Firmware updates for RNS510 units in Australia/NZ

Hi everyone.
I recently upgraded the firmware on my RNS-510 and as mentioned before it all went really smooth.

Upgraded to 4120:
Delivery part number 3T0035680A
Hw ver H52
Sw ver 2844


Testing today I realized that every time I start the the RNS does not start automatically and just displays the time and when turning it on it takes about a minute for the system to start up and fully load the navigation, turning off the car and waiting for a short while the system then starts instantly as it did before the update, but if I wait for a longer period of time it needs to load the whole system again with the boot logo appearing.

As this is not the way it was prior to the update, should this be now normal?

I have read through all the posts and am worried of battery draining due to the update, as described I cannot see any changes or fixes required for my HW and part number or any VCDS changes needed.

You haven't told us which FW you were on before and also how old's your V Dub.

Battery drain depends on your canbus gateway version and not really the FW you've installed.

The records I have from pre upgrade are below, I am unable to see any indication of gateway ver or am I missing it.

I see the full boot logo sometimes on mine too, there must be done period where it does a fast boot vs full boot, but I haven't really worked it out.

You can turn the time off in the Settings menu and it will be either black screen or logo.

Yes, I know that configuration is available just wanted to make sure it is normal that:
1. When inserting the key and starting the car the system does not start automatically and just remains on the black screen - brfore the update it came on immediately back to previous selected menu item on car start.

2. When starting the car after a long period of time it goes through a full Boot with the logo taking longer to start. radio comes up with in 30 sec and navigation 1 min - Previously it just woke up as described above.

Just wondering if I should update the gateway described in the recovery post:

Mine has always come on to what it was Usually the radio.

If I press the Nav button it says System starting and takes a little while If i go into a shop it starts up as it was.

As I dont use the Nav a lot I havent noticed that it is any different to what it was Will put it on Nav and turn it off and see what it says in the morning

OK, was about to go to an important event and.. the Battery was flat. Damn
luckely got a neighbor to cable the car, charge it - quickly updated the 'Fix for old CAN gateways' - started the car and so far it looks like everything is back to normal.

So, if you have the above symptoms... DO NOT WAIT and update the gateway

Will monitor the situation and will update you should this not fix.

It is actually my sons Birthday party, I was just lucky my wife wanted to move the car two hours before and get everything in the boot but could not get the car to start .

So saying I was stressed is an understatement as it is one thing having the car not start but its another when your head is going to be on the chopping board .

Still have 25 min to spare
