It appears you are in the EU, which does have DAB supported units, however your unit does not have DAB hardware.
A version number of 255 means invalid.
Upgrading the firmware will not enable DAB, you need a new RNS unit.

    Thanks!
Will 5269 give me more fuctionality / stabilty above 4120 not having DAB hardware?
I upgraded to 4120 on Sunday, so no experience jet on stabilty.

    No feature improvements over 4120.

    Hey guys!
I have a few assumptions and a few questions about my RNS510, which hasn't got the secret menu enabled, when i hold the setup button for up to a minute, only the fm, am, dab menu comes up.
I do know that i have a 20GB music partition so i can assume it has the 1xxx or 2xxx version? The system was put in in may 2010, so I assume that it's a C version or higher?
I know that i lookup the version if i get the unit out of the dash but i'm too scared to scratch or damage my dash.

    * Is there another way to get to the hw/sw version info?
    * Can i update my system with 3810 with a partition setting of 75/20/5 with the custom image from rnsfirmware.com?
    * I've got a Golf VI with MFI, does my system have to be recoded with vcds/vagcom after the upgrade?

Don't know about an RNS 510 but I do know that Japanese audio bands are different as Jap imports into NZ had to have a band expander fitted to the radio as the Jap ones were out by about 10mhz and didn't go up to the 108mhz band.

Possibly it is the same but maybe a European one if you are lucky.

Kamold will probably come on with the correct info.

I don't know the answer off the top of my head but will try and find out. It may have a different mainboard like the North American units.

One way to find out is try and tune the FM band as high as it will go An NZ radio should go to about 106.8 whereas a Jap one only goes to about 96.8.

That should tell you what you have.

We used to buy a converter from **** Smith and hook it between the aerial and the radio to shift the frequencies to the NZ ones.

A US radio has different spacings between frequencies and wont work too well in NZ or AUS either.

Yes the Japanese FM band is 76-90MHz compared to 88-108... Don't know about AM. Is their AM spacing 9kHz (like us and Europe) or 10kHz like the USA?

Think its like us otherwise the self seek wouldn't work. Mine always worked with the converter. Sometimes not very well on some stations. Aerial problem Converter incompatibility ??????

Had about 4 different imports. All had original radios but cousin has a Toyota Windom with a Toyota Nav in it and couldn't get it to run NZ maps.

    He isn't however very techy.
