experts in RNS510 please help me !!!

    hello gentlemen,

I imported2014 VW Jetta 2.0l TDI from Korea. It equipped with RNS510 Navigation Radio.MyRNS 510 is stuck on welcome globule cycling turning on off with no working. I tried hardly to figure out the RNS 5110 firmware version with no luck. I pulled outthe unit and the there were the following information :
    3C8035685A
    HW:H20
    SW:1084
    VD1VWZ6Z7N6297077
I searched the websites for this typefirmware but never mentioned. So I started burn different firmware using xpcdburner at low speed X1 on both CD & DVD.Then,I do the following
burn .iso image usingxpcdburner select track at once recording, suggest slow burn speed (eg 1x). I usedboth DVD-RW & CD-R

    1. open car, leave keys in pocket.
    2. start up the RNS by pushing the power/volume button in,don't have to wait for boot to finish
    3. Press all at once <SETUP>+<EJECT>+<I> toset software loading mode, unit didn't seem to want to reboot by itself, sopress power/volume button
After reboot, splash screen with red bars:
"THE SYSTEM IS NOT ABLE TO START UP"
    "PLEASE INSERT SWL-CD"
    5. Insert .iso discthat I have made from this thread (using track at once recording)
    6. Then message come "SOFTWARE LOADING ERROR (010306)"SWL ERRORI cant get any of them to work. I have burnedabout 7 different images onto CD-R at low burn speed (1x)
I contact the dealer and they answered me that I have to replace the all RNS510which is very costly to me
I looked at Thread RNS-510 Custom Boot Screens
& follow all steps but no luck
Anyone could help me with issue please??

Korean units have a different firmware than EU/RoW.
It is possible to change the configuration of the mainboard to an EU/RoW and then load the EU firmware, however it requires special tools such as Setconfig for RNS510.
Alternatively you can purchase an EU mainboard and replace your current one.

Yes totally agreed with you. It is completely different firmware.
Do you think I need to change the screen with mainboard since EU RNS 510 dosn't have DMP & TPEG buttons?

Can i do the changing mainboard or it need technican?
One more thing, what about codeing the RNS 510 after replacing new mainbord!!

Thank you Kamold for your reply & highly appreciated.

It's fairly straight forward to replace the mainboard, just refer to the instructions here:

Yes it will need to be coded correctly for your car using VCDS or OBD11 etc.

You don't need to replace the screen, it will still work.

unless you are committed to having the RNS in your car, you might be better off getting a newer headunit of which there are many on offer. My friend recently installed this headunit which he got for about $300 android OS. He reckons it sounds better than his old RNS and GPS can be updated often. unfortunately it came without a name
