i dont think the heater box is back there. have you removed the cage and seen what is hitting it? it is a snug fit for length, but no HU should be that oversized!

My Alpine was a very tight fit. The main problem is all the cables and if you are using harness adaptors I can imagine the problem will be worse. I hardwired mine in directly but it was still a lot of cable to tuck away in there, it was pushing the unit out a bit. I think the main problem is the antenna connector due to the adaptor it sits out a long way.

Basically you really have to work on tucking all the wiring down beneath the unit at the back when you push it in.

A 7" toouch screen until can range from around $300 for a chinese unit from ebay including SatNav but with crappy iPod interface (have not seen one with a good interface yet!), up to $2k+ for a brand name full featured unit.

My Alpine IXA-W407EBT a year ago was around the $700 mark, it is low on features but high on quality, does everything I need it to do and does it really well. My main requirement was great iPod support and this unit has great control and display (including album art).
