A quick diagnostic would be to try it while the car is parked, see if it still crackles then. If it's fine, try tapping around the speaker. If it crackles while you're tapping then it is probably a lose connector or solder point.
Got a 06 Jetta with some issues with the drivers side door speakers. Noticed it crackling and thought it was the tweeter so got it changed. Have now noticed that it's actually the speaker on the door panel itself. What happens at low volumes is that there's either no sound or it crackles but if I crank the volume, it produces a clear sound but again doesn't last very long. Any ideas guys? Sounds like a wiring issue but some advice would be sweet.

Sounds like the voice coil is damaged on the speaker. It would explain why full power is needed to get any response.
throw a test speaker on the door and if the test speaker sounds fine then your current speaker is damaged.
The only other explanation for those symptoms would be the front right channel on the internal amplifier in your headunit is slowly dying.
Amps sometimes exhibit this exact problem.
Only way to be sure is take the door skin off and put a test speaker on it.

What speaker would u guys recommend and where can I get that done in brisbane?
Any basic speaker will work fine in your Jetta, as long as they are power efficient. I believe they are 6inch speakers in your doors so you have plenty of options available.
I have a store in Slacks Creek if you need some help picking an appropriate speaker or even just finding the fault. Happy to assist where we can.

Thanks guys! Will get the speaker checked out
