    Can somebody confirm this?

I'm on 2.27 and I know that my aux-in isn't working. (I had always that it was because the installer didn't plug it in properly)
If 2.32 enables aux-in, then it could make it worth taking the risk to upgrade!

Can anyone confirm newest available firmware version for my 'pre-release' DNS unit (without 'new' CAN chip)? Not sure if most recent link is applicable to my unit or not.

    Current version:

Shoot Sandy an email to check, I could hazard a guess but don't want to risk it :p

No idea on the specifics, but the updates on the CANBUS are typically fairly incremental. No reason not to run the latest, though.

I'm thinking on give it a try, my main concern is the sound quality.

    Here's a video
Hardware should be pretty much identical to the DNS, so would expect it to be the same.

Just one query i hope someone can answer is that with the bluetooth audio streaming do the track and artist details display on the headunit / MFD?

    Cheers

Nope, sorry mate. No track info via BT streaming in the DNS on the MFD, as Kakourgos said. VVV

I have to use the audio player buttons on the screen or the hardware buttons of the unit.

I had aux-in way back with my original preproduction unit working, as far as i'm aware it's hardwired into the iso harness, not sure why it would be disabled in firmware though.

The build in microphone of my DNS doesn't perform that good.

Now, what are the options that we have to improve it?
In my opinion the best solution should be to use a microphone in the factory position close to the middle mirror.
I have collected the required parts for factory installation (only needed part is a single or dual core -shielded- cable).
If i find enough free time during the weekend i will do the cabling/installation.

    My questions are:
Has anyone else done it before?
Is the DNS prepared to accept an external microphone is the factory expected pins in the back of the unit?
If yes then everything will be quite easy, if not i will have to rewire the internal microphone wiring -probably using a different/longer wire- leaving the internal microphone unused.
The cost of the parts for me was about 15€ for the plastic connector holders and pins (repair wire) and about 10€ for the OEM microphone for ebay.
I asked the local VW but they wanted about 60€ for the ~1€ production cost microphone….

If the results are not that good i will also consider using the soon removed build in microphone. Even i could try other electret microphones from the local market as their cost is almost nothing.

In any case i will proceed hoping that i will not have to open the unit.

Hey mate, I'm fairly certain the DNS doesn't have inputs for an external mic. Chances are you'd have to unsolder the onboard one and solder on wires for a new one. Too much effort for my liking, tbh.

I have a MKV and have battery drain issues also.
When I can be f'd I will be putting a new canbus in it to see if that helps.
But in the mean time, if I am leaving the car parked for longer then a day I turn the head unit off before I turn the car off.
This is the only way I can get my battery to last longer then a day sitting and the battery isn't that old.

After I installed the DNS, i donated my long serving RCD510 to my wife’s brother who has a 2005/2006 Skoda Octavia5.
From day one he experienced power drain issues due to “old” can GW module.
Using my VCDS cable and the information below we found that the can module could be SW upgraded to a compatible version (e.g. from 0110 to 017 ) .
    http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...)_Retrofitting

A quick visit to the main Skoda service and a 5-10’ procedure fixed everything avoiding the hassle of purchasing and installing a new can bus module.
I believe it worth it to check if your current can GW can be SW upgraded to a version.

I just want to point out that the issue is related to the Can GW and not to the DNS/RCD/RNS although it has been mitigated by SW changes in RNS/DNS.

The version I am running I posted here:

Not 100%if it's the "latest", but it's running great for me (MKV GTI)

Just make sure you flash the correct MCU or you will brick your unit.
