hi, I recently got the DNS-810 radio and have been experiencing really bad sound problems. When I plug in my 3rd gen iPod through the 30pin connector, my sound starts to clip every time I press a button. After some time, the radio loses sound completey. I'm guessing it may be an electrical current problem...Has anybody experienced this before?

The DNS 810 came shipped with the following specs:

Upon installation, I remember testing different things with the input cables. At one point, I had an iPhone 5 connected through the USB and the 3rd gen iPod connected through 30-pin cable. Both were being charged by the head unit. The iPod wasn't recognized as an iPod at first (No song name displayed, no folder navigation) and had no noise when it played songs. After I disconnected and reconnected the iPod, it was recognized but this time with noise. After that I got noise everytime I connected a peripheral to the unit with charging capability. Pretty strange...it may be my iPod.

Also, has anybody successfully got the 3G network, DTV, or phone mirroring function working on the unit?

I have the mirroring working on mine - it uses Airplay - on iPhone it is only 1 way. It works very well. Simply plug the device into the back of the DNS and then your phone needs to connect to the DNS using WiFi. On mine I then connect to a device on my WiFi list called DZSJ-AS 663. There will be a "Mirroring" option appear for that device. Turn it on and you are done. The DNS responds quickly and the screen rotates as per the Phone. The colour is a little different to the phone. I use it to pick up the Digital Radio on my phone and also to use MetroView - a Navigation App on my phone that shows traffic problems.
When I get in the car if I use it then I connect to the DNS by pushing on the Mirror Link button and then slide up the first screen on my phone and connect to the DZSJ-AS 663 device in Airplay.

Info on DVB-T Reception...

I can only speak from an Australian perspective... Australia decided not to adopt the standard for digital TV transmission that would allow seamless reception with mobile devices i.e. car head units. This effectively means that if you're going to use the TV module while the car is moving (which is illegal in Australia), the signal will drop in and out and there's nothing you can do about it. You could spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on some specialised aerials that are used for caravans and limousines, but even these can be unreliable with digital TV signals.

In order to determine the best mounting place and orientation for the diversity aerials supplied with the DVB-T box, the following conditions need to be met and some other things need to be worked out...

1. The aerials cannot be mounted on any windows with tinting.

2. The aerials cannot be mounted on the underside of any metal surface (e.g. the inside of the roof lining), and they won't work if mounted under the dashboard.

3. You will need to supply power to each aerial. I was able to run 2 separate 12V lines from the internal fuse box to each aerial that only powers the aerials when the car is switched on (the DNS unit draws a reasonable amount of power!).

4. You'll also need to find out what polarisation the digital TV transmissions are in your area. In Australia, this site is useful: Welcome to Oz Digital TV (Sorry, I don't know where to look for U.S. TV). If the signals are horizontally polarised, you will need to mount your aerials horizontally. If the transmissions are vertically polarised, then naturally you'll mount your aerials vertically. You may find your area has a combination, so you may want to mount one aerial horizontally, and the other vertically.

5. The aerials need to be mounted as far from each other as possible - this is not an easy thing to do. If you can, it is recommended that one aerial is mounted on the front windscreen, and one on the rear window. Some forums have even suggested placing the aerials on the inside of each corner of the front bumper, but even this will not guarantee a steady signal. In my car, the only window that was not tinted was my front windscreen, so each aerial is mounted (stuck on) horizontally on each side of the front windscreen above the sun visor.

In order for me to properly scan for channels, I figured I had to find a place that was line of sight to the TV transmission towers in order to have the best chance of picking up the DVB-T signals. For me, I was lucky enough to find a shopping centre car park with lots of open space with line of sight. I then did the auto scan for channels, and it was able to pick up all digital channels. Once the scan was complete, the unit auto-saves the channels, so there is no further configuration to do. From this point, you can be confident that the channels are properly tuned and stored - so when you select a channel you know it's ok from that perspective - the only downfall is obviously how your car is positioned in regards to the TV transmissions towers, as your reception signal will drop in and out, particularly if you are moving. That is the best I've been able to get - it's far from perfect.
