DNS series head unit (new generation dual core RNS-510 alternative)

Been using the latest firmware since it came out,

Seems to work fine with no hangups, it does 1 or 2 funny things while the nav is routing you somehwere.
1) It wont let the stereo options show up on the MFD, however arrive at destination or cancel and it re-apears.
2) with parking sensors enabled and traveling below 10Km/h, it does not show up on the radio display where the sensors are detecting objects, especially in reverse.

Last I heard order has been submitted and they're in production. Should be wrapped up before christmas hopefully. Guess it depends on how fast they can get the production run done and shipping.

As has been the case for a while, working great, still some little software niggles here and there, but nothing show stopping. In fact, haven't really noticed anything really in the latest firmware. Keen to get the new CANBUS module though

Hello.
I have a dns-810 for 2 weeks ....


v39 upgrade
can v2.27.


1- brings rca front, behind and sub .... but no .... REMOTE Amplifier.
I had to do as MacGyver ..... for sound.
failing to solve noise throttle speakers.
2-steering wheel keypad works the other way round advancement with left button ..... ...... I back right button.
3-ipod ... not me .... all my folders appear messy ... but usb working properly ... folders ... and within their songs.
4-drive the selection of the 5 options only works for ops ....... not for cue.
Typically used all the doors ......... but not all have parking sensors.
in my case I have a golf ...... but a passat logo on cue.


5-dvd slow to move songs ------ 7 seconds.


other works pretty well ......
usb ok (but from the wheel pulse 1 Time passes ..... 3 songs)
rds ok
ipod .......
reversing camera ok
tdt hd ok ... even on the road.
great bt
gps ok
Sygic ok
automap ok
navigon ok
igo primo ok.

I will strongly advice everybody to stay away from this units, they are all full of bugs and I think they engineers like they called them are knowing a sh.t, all the stuff they advertised is not working, radio is not showing RDS on MFD, or in the device, its placed in virtual buttons???? wtf. Playing songs from SD/USB is great, as any other MP3 player right??? MFD is not showing the names of the song id3 tag, only Track 1, Track 2....., power on time is 0 sec, i admit is booting very fast, but when you must reinsert the key to lock to make it run what is use of boot time, I mean every morning I sit in my car and surprise device is not running, so i turn off my car, take off my key from lock and reinsert it again to gain power to device, and its frustrating cause i need to do that every time i leave my car for 2+ hours. This device have a Bluetooth, yeah that right, I don't want to be a totally negative person here, so I will skip review of Bluetooth . I been lucky so i purchased new model , what a joke, Professional bmw car dvd manufatuer, device cost me around $600 with the custom fees. Now believe me its better for everybody to buy used rns 510 or any Zenec device instead of this sh.t. It's not worth the time you spend to make it run, and i spend a month, and change 3 firmware, i have new firmware btw. it's 3 day old . I assume they just change the date cause I don't see any progress. But guys, look at the bright side if you can see.

I appear to have bricked my DNS810 - it won't boot up after a firmware upgrade. I contacted audiosources and they suggest I send it back - but that will cost me about $150.

Anyone have any ideas if I have any other options? Is there any way I can flash anything else onto the unit to make it workable without having to send it back?

Can you redo the firmware upgrade again? Did the first upgrade go as normal or did it freeze halfway at all? Did you turn it off halfway through the flash process?

The only way I've seen to brick these units so far is disrupting (either you or a failed flash) the BSP (coloured text screen) flash at the start. As long as you can get that part to flash theoretically it should be recoverable unless something is damaged.

I would be interested to hear how yours happened.

Not my experience at all, sounds like you're using an old firmware version, what version are you running? Otherwise sounds like you've got a defective unit, not sure what you're going on about with half your post anyway?

We've been through the iGo thing hundreds of times before, its a piece of crap, don't bother. Sygic works perfectly for me.

Only other way to brick it is if you flash Old CANBUS firmware on New CANBUS unit, or vice versa. That will brick it.
