DNS series head unit (new generation dual core RNS-510 alternative)

Hi Guys, Have been patiently waiting since November but really needed GPS/Bluetooth in car so bit the bullet and bought a 8" unit for my Mk6 Golf from local guy in Brisbane (instyleauto) who came to my house to install. Similar price to DNS unit and quite happy with it so far.

Production DNS with the march firmware working great so far Still has the various bugs in the spreadsheet (at this point, apart from the SD playback bug and missing features (3 line MFD etc), they're just minor usability or UI things).... but so far it's solidly stable.

What brand was it? Probably a generic chinese unit I guess?

Did it come with that FW or did you have to flash it? Mine should arrive in a couple of days.

It had the January (16bit) firmware for whatever reason. Flashed it with the March firmware from the first page.

As of 06/04/2014, it should be:

BSP: MS9.G.F
MCU: DNS810.140114_01
MPU: DNS810.11March.14.32.V0.5.

Sandy said he got sent through an updated version yesterday, but hes yet to test it.

BTW, what are peoples experiences with iPod/iPhone compatibility at this point?

I have tried:

2004 iPod photo (works fine with full control)
2009 iPod nano 4th gen (charges but neither ipod nor DNS unit see a data connection)
iPhone 4 iOS 7.1 (DNS switches to iPod mode, but no folder structure loads and no control of unit offered)

My girlfriends iPhone 4 (iOS6) and mums iPhone 4 (iOS7) both work fine as well *shrugs*

RVC works fine the first time after I start the car, but then subsequent reversing it doesn't work. Unit is picking up reverse signal from CAN as it pauses SD playback when engaging reverse, but the screen doesn't change to camera input. The other unit received at same time does exactly the same thing in my mates mk6.

Wierd, thought it was odd that certain devices weren't working. Might try a reflash/factory reset on my unit tonight and see if it wakes up.

My girlfriend's iPhone 4s (iOS 7) just gets the blank screen with no tracks etc. but controls fine from the phone itself. I'm still on the Dec F/W though which could be why. My RVC has worked perfectly from day 1 though.
