I will organise a small batch local replacement. I'm thinking 5 units. Just PM if you're interested - I think there are a few Australian customers who have encountered the white screen issue now, moda being the most recent.

I have tested the firmware now, it does revert to Chinese every time but no it does not cause any white screen issues - moda's unit was likely about to throw the fault anyway.

The major improvement in this release is that it no longer needs to wait to skip further into a song - you should be able to skip to anywhere instantly. This should solve long load time issues with SD, although those with 1 hour long songs, do tell me if song position memory will work correctly if it was at say 45 mins.

I will upload a fixed MPU once I get it from the technician. He wasn't aware, since all the techs at the factory would be using it as Chinese anyway.

And if I did that I'm sure you'll just accuse me of deceit and delays. I was clear that I did not have time to test the firmware yet. I know that MPU cannot brick the unit, at any time you can downgrade to a previous firmware. Hence I thought to get it out to customers first. The firmware update does not cause the white screen issue. If there are any dangers I would not upload the firmware on a public forum to begin with.
    Groovy. Sign me up

It was just pretty funny that it decided to do it then, since it sat in 45 degree heat all summer.... probably my stress 'testing' was what caused it to give up haha.

The language thing is a pretty lol bug, not really a big issue since I just slam in my iPhone and control music from there these days, but yea.

I will need a new one eventually due to the BT issues but I'm happy to wait until the next round if there are guys with more immediate issues. If there is a spare one though I'm in. I did have a few white screens initially but it hasn't happened for ages now. Can you confirm whether or not the BT quality is fixed in the final units Sandy?

Hi guys, I am interested on buying this unit, but i have a few concerns. What about audio wuality? Is it better or worse than the previous ANS model? Is it better than the stock rcd510? What about the parking ops on screen, do they still show at the same time with the RVC? Dows anyone managed to install Garmin on it?

This one is for Sandy, new units are coming with the USB cable included? Since i don't have the OEM USB on my RCD510.

Sound quality on it is excellent (paired with my Focal speakers). Can't really compare it to the OEM units, but it will sound the same, and probably better than them. How noticeable is up to you and your ears.

OPS works as per the OEM units, and yes, you have have the option to have it displayed on the RVC display.

The WinCE Garmin app is fairly terrible and old, hasn't been updated in years.

iGo Primo is the best of the WinCE apps, it really is pretty great, stable, fast and customizable.

As you can no doubt see in the posts in this thread, there are still some software bugs around, but we're getting closer and closer to a release ready firmware. How long that will take is anyones guess, though. Sandy won't do an order until the the firmware is release ready, though.... personally i'd say you've still got a few months to wait, but who knows. Not to let that discourage you, just a heads up.

Thanks for the quick answer! Yes, i am aware of the current bugs, nothing that worries me that much. I know garmin app is awful, but i live in Argentina, and the best maps available are for Garmin, and they are for free.

Yes BT quality is fine - TBH it was fine for the pre-production batch too but you seemed to have ended up with a lemon along with one other person.

I have just uploaded the MPU that fixes the Chinese bug - the link is in the first post, same location and description as before except it links to the updated MPU.

It's really just the one navigation resource hog issue left. But yes you're right I can't pin down a timeframe because AS needs to work with the CPU manufacturer to resolve it. Supposedly the techs at AS are paying the CPU manufacturer a visit this weekend. I'll hound them for an update then.

I have one more question, what happens when the last song in a folder is played? Does it jump to the next folder automatically (same as rcd510), or it just starts playing the first song on the same folder again?
