I'll get them to make the dimmest setting a bit dimmer. Not sure if it can be brighter - as is the case for LCD screens I'd expect brightest to be exactly that - max brightness the screen can achieve.
I spoke to the software engineer about the RVC brightness and apparently the manager asked him to turn up the brightness for it a couple of firmware updates ago, because he thought it was too low! But anyway. I'll revert back to him.
As for updates, I just received a new MPU update that has several interface and speed improvements. I haven't had the time to test it myself but it is up on the first post. They have not implemented the music library function yet because they hit a snag scanning ID3 info into the library - apparently something is causing the unit to freeze during the scanning process. They should have a solution soon.
As for SD / nav issue they are waiting for a response from the CPU manufacturer. It appears the CPU kernel needs enhancement because as it is it's not taking advantage of the dual core for multitasking. In the meantime I am discussing with the software engineer regarding if there is a way to restrict system resources used by the navigation software for now.
The clash / slowdown issue only happens when the 3D map is moving. When the map is moving and in the foreground, the foreground app naturally takes precedence and there is not enough CPU juice left (in one core, as the other core is not being utilised atm) to run the SD decoding in the background smoothly.
