DNS series head unit (new generation dual core RNS-510 alternative)

No custom ROM. Stock and not rooted. When I scan with the allcast mirror link, on the included AS adapter for Samsung, it doesn't find anything. Running the new KitKat formal firmware that was just released. I may try my wife's S3 tonight to see if it works.

Alright... I went out and bought an official Samsung allcast link module, and still can't get this mirrorlink option to work. Not so sure this will work with a Samsung phone. I tried my other phone as well... Neither the Note 3 or S3 will work. Sandy, please talk with AS about this. If this does not work, I will be looking at returning the unit, as this was suppose to be a viable feature. I also tried the included Samsung adapter they provided on both phones with no luck. Allcast does not find a mirrorlink device when searching in the Allcast settings. Really at a loss here.

BTW, I tried the adapter on my TV and it works great. Ruled out phone and adaptor. Also, as soon as I plugged in the phone to TV it came right up. No need to scan with Allcast.

Sorry about the late response mate it's getting harder to keep track of the thread with work and wedding planning in the mix. If you do have an urgent question it would be better to reach me via email.

As for the mirroring module, there is a specific interface for it. If you go to the main menu on your DNS unit, you can scroll down by dragging the screen up, and there's a button for mirrorlink. You enter this menu by pressing that button. It doesn't have anything to do with Allcast, you simply have to select the menu on the unit.

Sandy, thank you for the help on the mirror link. Heck, I didn't even know the menu scrolled down there. Most of the menus that have additional pages, have arrows on the right side. Went to the mirror link option, and it works. Graphics aren't the greatest, but that could have been my app that was running. Wish I didn't have to leave the phone display on during the mirror link, but that may be the actual technology and not the radio. Much happier now. Thx

White screen / monsun.exe error

Some who received the pre-production unit have come across a white screen error. Others come across monsun.exe error while playing SD. It is unclear if the two are related at the moment, but the white-screen error has been tracked to a faulty resistor which will be replaced in the final production unit. Those with the pre-production unit experiencing issues will be able to exchange for a final production unit on release. International customers will need to send the unit back to Audiosources and local Australian customers will send it back to me.

monsun.exe error is under investigation and should either be related to the resistor fault or software memory leak. In the latter scenario a firmware update would fix the issue. However the technicians have not been able to replicate this yet, so anyone who is able to replicate it please let me know and describe in as much detail as possible how the issue occurs, including if GPS is running in the background, if route guidance is on (i.e. during a trip), and what song / file type is being played, how big the file is, how long the unit has been on for etc.

Looks like I need to keep an eye on the first post in this thread.
I did not know if you had suffered with the white screen and monsun errors you could send the unit back and get a final production unit.
So Sandy if I send my unit back how long would it take you to send out the final production unit after receiving it?

These images hopefully clarify what I was referring to when I said the screen is blinding at night. If u travel past suburban areas and their light pollution, then the screen becomes very bright as it is much darker at night.





Both of these I believe show what I mean by the dimmest setting being too bright. Plus the camera being full brightness too.

Just catching up on things and noticed this post. It seems such a trivial thing but it makes a big difference for me too. Towards the end of having mine in I was turning the face off at night because it was so bright, compounded by the size of it! Makes night time driving very distracting hey. If they were to add a couple extra settings it would be good to see it dimmer for night and a bit brighter than max for daytime as it was a bit hard to see it at times in sunlight (maybe because of the abundance of black colours?).

I uploaded a pic of my stock unit and you can see the dimness is uniform with the gauge cluster which I keep just slightly above the lowest setting, photoshopped a pic below it of how the DNS seemed at night, though I think it was brighter than what I made it lol http://i59.tinypic.com/afh346.jpg
