Not 100%if it's the "latest", but it's running great for me (MKV GTI)

Just make sure you flash the correct MCU or you will brick your unit.

    Thanks again Goobz

    My current version is ;
    BSP: MS9.H.32.1018
    MPEG:
    MCU:
    DNS810.A.1010
    BT:031407180
    MPUNS810.13Nov14.32.VW.V41
    CAN:VW_V02.27
    MAP:
    SOFTWARE:

So mine has the "A" type.
    So I follow this first : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...A_20150326.zip
then I do this one: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/.../VW_V02_32.ihs

    Is this correct???
Also I am based in South Africa (not sure if updates is area specific)

    BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!

Also read and follow Goobz post here: DNS series head unit (new generation dual core RNS-510 alternative)

Use the 'A' firmware and the .ihs file ONLY.

As everyone has said, new firmware should fix your issues, but it is your responsibility to read all the instructions and follow them, it is up to you to follow them, otherwise you will brick your unit. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

ALSO, do it with the engine running to make sure your car doesn't drain the battery, AND if the unit freezes or doesn't do anything or just has a black screen throughout the process, JUST LET IT SIT AND DO ITS THING. DON'T PANIC. DON'T TOUCH IT. LET IT DO ITS THING.

    Hi Everyone,

Been viewing this thread for a while!

I have recently purchased a DNS810 directly from AS. I have not gone down the firmware path yet as I wanted to make sure I didn't have a faulty unit before starting. I have always had FM radio reception issues. When I first got it I didn't have the correct antenna plug so i plugged in one of the antennas and waited a few weeks for an antenna adapter to arrive. Now that I have the adapter in place with both antennas connected, the reception has not improved much.

When I say reception issues - the problem I see is that I get occasional static and sometimes it jumping between stereo and mono reception. Some stations are better than others, that said the old head unit never had the same issues in the same locations.

Has anyone had a similar issue?
Can anyone confirm if FM reception was addressed in any of the firmware updates?

    This is my current firmware

What sort of radio reception issues? In my experience, the DNS has substantially better radio reception than any other chinese unit, and is on-par with the factory units. Sounds like you had the 2xsingle fakras instead of the dual fakra plug? I think you'll find one of the plugs is for AM and the other is for FM.

Firmware doesn't address reception, it is what it is. I'd highly recommend updating the firmware though, everything is a lot better since the one you have.

Thanks for a response Moda. Yes I have the 2xsingle FAKRAS. The reception has static that comes in and out at time. Volume can be all over the place too as i think as reception degrades it starts turning the signal off. I would have thought the radio is software defined and hence firmware could improve it but it seems that you have not heard of any issues here so a firmware update probably won't help. AM works fine. I guess it's possible that the antennas are swapped. I have read that the OEM radios choose between the two antennas to find which is best. Maybe the DNS doesn't do this?

One thing I am considering is if the wireless reverse camera is interfering by inducing noise onto the antenna. Changing this requires pulling apart the dash unfortunately. Something I am getting better at each time...

So I noted today that the radio reception is only bad when the car is on. Magically comes good when the car is off. I probably have a loose ground. Hopefully get a chance to investigate it soon.

Yep sounds like a bad ground somewhere to me. Looks like you have some time with a multimeter ahead of you!

Are you back up and running again Moda, how long did it take to get the part from China from when you ordered it?
