Haven't really tested it but you are correct in saying it looks like ****!
Yep. There are some skins that make it not as terrible, though.

Did some more playing around. Found that iGo8.3.5 isn't a solution. It's ever so slightly more responsive when open, compared to Primo, but as soon as you start navigation/simulation, the same thing happens where everything just bogs down/slows down. Go back to the menu of iGo8.3.5, or stop the simulation, and it goes back to being responsive again.

So it's either that iGo8/Primo is being a resource hog during navigation/simulation, or the DNS just isn't optimised properly/fully, yet.

I don't understand why its so hard, when Primo/iGo8 works fine in many other units, many of which have 1/4 of the processing power that the DNS is supposed to have. Hell, the exact same copy of Primo works ****ing perfectly in my Eonon unit, even when simulating a 4000km trip, and that has a 500mhz processor, 128mb of ram, and essentially the same version of WinCE6.0.

    Ugh.

Just a heads up, apparently Audiosources have a new set of units for VW, called the S600 series. It looks like its the same hardware as the DNS series (same CPU etc), just with a different software running on top (so its not OEM-style). It also has an external canbus decoder (my guess is they did this so they can upgrade it in the future, instead of having to resolder a chip like we are going to have to do with the DNS).

Bazzle has one, and according to his reports, has seen no GPS related issues, though it does have some other bugs.

So it sounds like they can actually make a unit where the GPS side of it isn't completely potato. Hopefully it means they have a fix for the GPS slow down, but who knows.

So I got a response back from Audiosource re iGo lag. They basically said, we recommend you use our version, we've had no issues.

"About Igo map issue,I had asked our engineers,he said it is edition problem.some edition IGO map is bigger and port is not same as our's,then it can't compatible with our device well.

Please use the version of the map can work normally."
I believe their version (or at least, the one Sandy shipped my unit with), is 9.6.2.209584.

Might give it a go tomorrow with the latest Aus maps and nothing else (no skins/mods/utilities etc), and see how that goes.

That's the only version I have used, the one that came with it.

Same here. I haven't really looked into changing it at all cause for the most part I find it unusable and end up using my phone for nav. Let us know how you go Moda.

Update: Apparently the version Audiosources uses is: 9.6.13.267029.

I actually have a copy of that, will build up a basic install (ie just maps, no tts/skins/mods/utilities) and see how it goes tomorrow. Will let ya'll know.
