    Something not right there Goobz, which version of iGo? I'm using Primo 2.4 and it works perfectly (aside from it causing SD playback to not skip to next track) and has never caused my unit to freeze

    For those using Sygic, how do you put the maps in the maps folder to be taken by the app? I'm not having luck with it. By the other hand, i've tested the latest fw i uploaded on my dns610, and it's unusable, iit will freeze almost everytime, and then it will stay on the vw logo, while playing the radio in the background.

    Any ideas?

    Hi everybody, I've also DNS610 unit and as you all fighting everyday to get it work as a proper product. The last firmware I've installed was one AS sent me on June 22, the result although better than before, still not getting it work properly. I will share with you some issues I have, maybe you can help.

    1. While starting the car, the radio losts sound and the way to recover it is by restaring the unit.

    2. I lost communication with the CANBUS randomly. From time to time my steerignwheel commands stop working and information from the canbus is not show anymore in the unit (ex: doors open). The only way to recover from this is by removing the fuse inside the hood.

    3. The unit randomly can't be started. From time to time and without any errors appearing the unit doesn't start, not even by pressing the knobs. The only way to recover from this is by removing the fuse inside the hood.

    4. After the last upgrade the multi-function display (MFD) appears in "off" status while showing the radio station information. With the previous Firmware the radio station was shown in the MFD.

    5. I can not set the correct time to the unit. Looks to be in China's timezone.

    6. When switching from FM to AM it does not syntonize any existing presets, it just goes to the first station in the dial (ex: FM 87.5 MHZ)

    7. I've also tried to go back to the previous firmware but it was impossible, the upgrade process gets hanged and never ends.

    8. I have Igo Primo 2.4 working fine but the GPS position is not that precise (the GPS dot shows some metes away from my current position).

    Regards
    Mariano

    So I finally got iGo8.3.5 to work for me. Works fine, no lag at all, even when using SD and playing back FLAC.

    Unfortunately iGo8.3.5 looks like ****, looks like something from the 90s, where as Primo is much more refined and actually usable.

    Very strange as to why iGo8 works fine but primo is a laggy potato.

    I don't want to use Sygic either because the maps are super outdated :\

    Unfortunately mate, it seems the DNS610 software hasn't been developed much, as they're trying to fix all the issues with the 810 first.

    I don't have any of those issues on my 810.

    Andy,

    All the updates should have been universal. I know AS sells mostly 610s in the domestic Chinese market so I am not sure why your unit has not been doing well with the updates. Have a go with this one and see how you go.

    Cheers,

    Weird. Give the latest July update a go I guess?

    Been playing around with the GPS some more.

    According to resinfo, the DNS810 WinCE partition can see about ~200mb of memory, and has about ~100mb free. CPU usage spikes to 100% when you skip tracks (SD&FLAC).

    Have given Primo 9.8 a try, completely stripped back to bare essentials (ie no TTS/building/3d/DEM files etc etc, just the primo.exe, maps and license files), seems to be a bit faster when changing volumes/skipping tracks, but as soon as you start a route (ie i'm simulating a 1000km route, it bogs down and you get lag. Stop the simulation and it goes back to responsive again.

    It seems like for whatever reason that when Primo is running a route/simulation, its using the entire CPU, so when you try and change a track its battling for resources and won't let the units WinCE partition use the CPU, so it just freezes until you either pause navigation or minimize it.

    Whether or not this is an issue with Primo being a resource hog, or the DNS's CPU (it should be a dual core 1.2ghz ARM processor, should have bucketloads of processing power), i'm not sure.

    It may still be an issue with the DNS not fully utilising the second core? I know that was an issue, but was under the impression that it was supposed to be fixed?

    I'm wondering whether there is a way to limit how much CPU Primo uses, say, make it only use a max of 80%, might make it a bit less responsive, but might give the unit some breathing room?

    Link down the bottom. Use the same maps as primo (ie the Content/License folders, but not the skin/scheme folders from primo). Delete his ui_igo8 folder and branding.zip and add/change these lines to sys.txt:

    [folders]
    ;app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

    [gps]
    source="nmea"
    set_messages=0
    background_navigation=1

    [interface]
    maxzoom2d=6000000
    show_exit=1
    shutdown_time=0
    defaulttilt3d=7600
    vga=0
    resolution_dir="800_480"
    skin="ui_igo8"

    [rawdisplay]
    highres=0
    class="landscape"
    screen_x=800
    screen_y=480

    As I said, its ugly as hell. At least it works, though.

    Looking into Sygic, seeing if I can get latest maps for it, hrm.

    Thanks Moda, got it working last night.
    Haven't really tested it but you are correct in saying it looks like ****!
