I have generally found VW tech's to have no nowledge about vagcom coding.
Your best bet is to find someone local who knows what they are doing with a vagcom cable and software to have a look.
Ive just purchased The latest model Tiguan the first thing I did was remove the RCD 510 and install a RNS510 I had a friend code this to the vehicle and every thing work as intended ,That was until I had to have the reverse sensors beepers turned up as they were inaudible , I dropped the car off last Wednesday as I was promised it would be done immediately to save me waiting around ,They told me to be there at 8AM and I was so I waited in reception lounge till 9.30am and as I had not heard any thing I decided to walk out side ,There was my car at the head of the pick up line with another 10 cars parked behind it , so I fronted the reception desk and asked why I had not been called as the car was clearly ready some time earlier, The excuse was they were waiting on the paper work .Give me a break''
Any way on Saturday I had to go some where turned on the RNS no MDf information on the screen , It had been deleted from the cars system, So I wrote them a text complaining about its removal .
Today I get a phone call , the person tried to tell me that because I had a after market computer in my car they could not reinstall the RNS ??? I then explained it was a genuine VW product and not a after market They then tried to tell me they could only fix the reverse sensors by doing a complete reinstall of the factory's Sensors and that would of removed the RNS from the system , I then asked why 37 had not been ticked as it was clearly a RNS in the vehicle , They could not answer WHY,, I told them that the technicians needed a bit more training as I found the service sadly lacking .
So I took it back to my friend who just took a couple of minutes to reinstall it all over again to the vehicle

Their computer program has a record of the original equipment installed. Since the RNS510 upgrade appears to be original equipment the technician wouldn't have expected any problems from resetting the config. You trade the convenience for the price saving of DIY retrofitting.
Long coding is always an issue at dealer level, as it's rarely used.
Everything else is mostly coded through Guided Functions which VCDS/VAGCom does not have, or just simply activating it in the CANbus Gateway.
The issue is compounded even moreso, when we're asked to retrofit parts, or code in settings and options that aren't standard, such as voice control in some models.
My advice? Bring a copy of the literature and coding you want performed, and be patient.

I took it back to my friend who recoded it to the car , It was just the way the dealer tried to make out I had a after market computer in my car and that's why they could not code it .?
Yeah, but you spoke to someone who didn't actually do the job, hence the inaccuracy.

Technically they could, but they don't have all the nice labels for that stuff like VCDS does; they'd have to manipulate the code string directly.
its different in dealer world...the VAS testers dont let you code the same as VCDS. if its not in a guided step for that model and spec then coding is generally done online via a factory supplied code. dealers dont have access to know what all the bits and bites of a long code actually mean... unless they purchased VCDS for themselves
