    Dealer fitted Bluetooth FYI

Just an FYI - After a lot of messing about my local VW dealer has confirmed that Bluetooth fitted by them rather than at the factory will not allow the phone book from a smart phone (iPhone, HTC etc) to display on the RCD510. It would have been handy if the dealer mentioned this beforehand. The factory fit Bluetooth can be fitted to the car by the dealer but apparently would require a change to the wiring loom which would easily cost between $7000-$8000 (not sure about whether that's true or not).

There are many dealer fitted bluetooth kits available. Some do allow this, it just depends on what you paid for (and I guess what the dealer suggested to you). As for the wiring loom change, that's just an exaggeration.

    Well, that's unfortunate.

But it's like anything mate, there are thousands of products out there. So whether it's tyres, window tint, navigation units, or bluetooth, you should always look at the details of what you're getting so you don't end up in the situation like this, where a product doesn't meet your needs.

Yep that's fair enough. Hey it's hardly a life and death situation, would have just been nice to have.

i heared from my countries golf 6 forum, there are two verison of bluetooth for golf 6,the expensive one can allow display the phone book on rcd 510 and the multi function display screen.this kit can buy from China for around 500-600aud(not sure do not trust this price, but it must be lower than this price) and it is orginal vw part.

this is a jetta install the rcd 510 and bluetooth by its owner

nah - there are seriously HEAPS. Firstly you have multiple options from volkswagen itself (at least 4 distinct families of bluetooth that I know of which apply). You then have many dealers who sell aftermarket bluetooth products....

Hi can highly recommend the Kufatec kit, complete integration with both RCD and steering wheel controls. The phone book downloads once paired.
