Not all DAB are equal though, Australia uses DAB+ I believe.

I'm still interested depending on what it ends up costing and how well it actually integrates.
something maybe worth checking with stinger australia and let us know. I'm definitely interested. problem is lease on my car finishes up in less than a year. so probably not a good idea to install something like this right now. If decide to keep the golf for few years past that maybe. but likely be moving on and if get another new car if doesnt come with dab+ I'd definitely be looking at getting something like the autodab. So yeah golf gti or alfa giulietta an autodab is something quite likely be following up next year

I just upgraded my BlueTooth to 9W7 so I can stream TuneIn (Internet) Radio from my phone so I'll stick with that for now and wait for some videos showing these internal kits in action on the RNS510.

Yeah, is interesting that Stinger appear to have a PnP product to market soon (although availability will tell). The UK ones are, as Ton pointed out, are DAB not DAB+.
Am concerned that pricing will be ridiculous though - I notice that car AV equipment was outside of the scope of the federal government review for gouging in AUS.
    Al..
Edit: The AutoDAB is apprarently compatible with DAB+ as well, but the stinger information seems to suggest that it needs a differenet antenna. The Connects2 information - who manufacture the unit - do not make any comment on it.

I am doing that as well... but the bit-rate is generally crook, (albeit there is something special in listening to Salsa in New York, Jazz in London, or trance out of Ibiza whilst driving home from work on the Cumberland hwy) ... DAB+ is meant to be all about the clarity of sound... looking forward to a solution that is at the right price...

hehe, I was surprised to hear all the hip English songs being played on a Mexican station the other day. Some stations are higher bitrate than others. Also podcasts are an option.

I too frequently use tunein via the bluetooth and aslong as the programs you listen to have a higher bit rate and you've got decent mobile coverage (i.e Telstra) the audio quality is quite good.

    Hi Ryan.
When u listen to TuneIn Radio via Bluetooth to ur VW, does ur phone battery drain out quite quickly? I realize Bluetooth drains the battery quite quickly when I'm using my iPhone paired up w my Bluetooth hands free ear piece. If u plug ur phone into the media plug on ur car, wld u still have to pair ur bluetooth up w ur unit to listen to tunein?

I've got a car mount wired up to the 12v so that's not an issue.

I did listen to music via BT stored on the phone for an hour the other day and battery usage was less than 7% (didn't check it for another hour or two after arriving at work).

TuneIn in the car will use 3G, which is similar to talking on the phone - so find the talk time stat of your particular phone. The lower your signal, the more power the phone uses to send voice/data over 3G.
