Connect iPad 2 to Golf R Bluetooth

    Hi,

I'm taking my family up to the Gold Coast next week, I need to keep my 2 kids entertained in the back seat for the 10 hour drive. I want to connect the iPad to the bluetooth audio on the RNS510 so the kids can hear the sound through the speakers . For some reason the head unit can not see my iPad and connect to it. It works fine with my iPhone.

Has anyone been able to get them to work together? I can not use the AUX in because I am jamming the iPad between the front seats above the centre console and the 3.5mm jack on the iPad will be inaccessible.

    Thank You

Pretty sure the ipad's don't support the handsfree profile
Yep, they don't: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles

Maybe try pairing from media mode, start playing music on your ipad, with your iphone nowehere nearby, and try to go to BT Media and see if you can get it that way
I haven't done this, but hope it works for you.
Failing that: 3.5mm right angle adapter...

Thanks mate, will give that a shot today and report back for future reference. I may have to get a 3.5mm angle adapter anyway. Cheers

How did you go with the BT pairing? No luck?
Just saw this in the latest APC mag: Cygnett CarGo web tablet headrest mount | ht.com.au (Linked to HT as the price is not the best, but close to it, and they have one listed in stock at North Ryde)
Better idea than wedging it in anyway IMO.

I just tested it now and was able to pair the iPad as a phone, then the media player worked, the car was unable to find the iPad for some reason but the iPad found the car and paired.

I already have a headrest mount, but I have 2 kids and one of them will miss out if I attach to the headrest. Jamming it between the two seats just above the armrest is very secure and works great cos both kids will be able to watch comfortable
