Ordinarily, I use the VIP POIs as a way to upload my favourite destination/place to go.

The unit can accept about about 100 destination from memory.

I've been using this website to search (via a Google Map search) for my favourite spots or location before any new trip, saving them on a SD Card and uploading onto the unit:

Highly recommend people use this free service before it's no more!

For some strange reason, they're shutting down the website after 14 June 2012.

Bloody real shame!!!

Now that VW Labs is definitely gone.

The next best thing is the German version:

Adressnavigation < Volkswagen Deutschland

Achtung: Website definitely all in German and you can only do an address search on Google Map & save to SD card (as a .vcf file), one at a time.

Unfortunately, there's also no ability to save your previous searches or favourites on the website.


But it's still better than nothing!

As still can upload your own picture for your favourite destination/address and it's still quicker to search and save your favourite destinations on your computer using Google Map, than having to find it and manually type and create the favourite destination via your unit's touch screen.

Thanks aussietig ,after upgrading to 4020 i lost all my speed and redlight cameras aussietig informed me the best way to reinstall and being a novice at using POInspesct0r i was doubtful about being able to install it correctly .but all worked well and i'm back in business .

Is anybody collecting the POI in SA?
It would be good to have them for every state. A good how to with the links would be great help, so the members (that didn't master their PC and software in it) and who want to do it, in the state that doesn't have milions of cars registered, are able to do so.

I'm just using my Garmin Nuvi50 that drives me mad by freezing on me. It's back to where I bought from for a second time (won't buy a cheap navigation unit again).

A good majority of my POIs are Australia wide.

Just waiting for someone to donate the next Australian map version CD_7703, to refresh/update all my POIs.


If people want to give me their state specific favourite POIs, I can incorporate into a new PersonalPOI.db3.

Hi. Got a revision H61 RNS510 with 4020 firmware. Am I able to get audible speed (as in 'your over the speed limit') warnings on this?

No audio alerts with the RNS510. Just on the map display

MDI also has a built-in feature where you can set audible speed alerts for a specific speed that you choose.

Sorry if this has been covered b4. I'm trying to work out how to load a .vcf file onto the RNS. I have used the above German site to find an address and save it to a .vcf file, put the .vcf file on an sd card but "SD Destinations" under New Destination screen is grayed out and so is "My points of interest (Personal POI) under Setup Navigation screen.

Is there something I'm missing or need to activate with vcds? I'm running firmware 4020 and maps v5 from this site. Cheers.
