Thanks everyone for your kind words as others have said yes it is a shame that AussieTig's hard work was leaked onto the web for every to access. We have done our best to try and lock this down to our dealers, I understand if you have V3970 or later it means a drive out to one of the dealerships, however this is the only way to lock down the POI's whilst still keeping the POI pricing down.

If we wanted SD card security we would be looking at over $250 per install of POI's. Our aim was to provide this to all members at a cheap and affordable rate and have done our best to disperse these maps across AU without them being uploaded. As of March it seems to be still locked down.

Aussietig was never chasing money in the first place nor did he count on this as a sole form of income, we just felt this was the least we could do to re-pay him.

I understand that some of you would like to modify the .DB3 file but given the cost of the update of $20.00 it just is not economically viable to spend time adjusting per request.

On another note, there have been some internal changes within the business The Retrofitters no longer manages any of the VW parts, supplies, dealers and POI's this is now being managed under the new business name VW Central.

Should you wish to purchase the POI's please do so via this link: POI Purchase

Thank you everyone for all your support. Any questions, queries, issues, please do not hesitate to contact us at support (@) vwcentral.com.au

This is really what it is all about I think. There are lots of hobbyists that enjoy what they are doing and are happy to share their work for the benefits of others. If your interests have changed then it is no longer a hobby and no longer fun. The small amount of income probably won't be enough incentive in the long run.

IMO the $20 charge isn't commercially viable when the customer has to physically attend to obtain the product. It's too cheap. Not only is there your time but also the time of the person onsite who needs to be paid wages etc. If it was an online download then the $20 is more viable.

There is no copy protection etc on the file so it is easily distributed.

Maybe someone who has the time and the desire will pick up the baton and continue your great work.

Thanks for your efforts over the years.

I know what you mean. I rate it as a similar hassle to having to drive to the petrol station to fill up.

    Hi All,

The release of a V9 map has given me enough reason to come back to this forum, but more importantly the motivation to go and refresh my 195 Custom POIs and release a 2016 version (shown below).

    Attachment 24597

So please go to post #245 for further details on how to obtain this.
