Stupid question, I can purchase the updated POIs even if I want to stay on V8 maps right?
Yes that's right!
Worse case ... you might just see a new Maccas or servo on say a new street on the V9 map, but appear on a patch of dirt or grass as the street didn't exist or wasn't recognised on your V8 or older map. That's all! :D
Has nothing to do with my POIs! They will just show or take you to those GPS co-ordinates regardless of what's there on your map.
Yeah all works fine, just finished updating mine, big thanks to Aussietig for bringing it back to the forum ;)
1: My latest PersonalPOI.db3 file for RNS510 Units only.
Attachment 24597
WARNING:
I have kept to 195 Custom POI Categories (including cameras) as a maximum this year, which is the same as the 2015 version. But where applicable the POI categories have been refreshed up to July 2016.
So a legitimate 2016 version of mine will show the above creation date and number of co-ordinates. Another way you can tell is that I removed Dik Smith and added Guzman and H&M this year.
NOTE: It will work on any Australian map version 4.1 or higher (currently "V9") and running FW 38XX or higher (currently FW 62XX)
DISCLAIMER: I take no responsibility for both the accuracy or completeness of any POI categories and co-ordinates within. The service I am providing is one of compiling from various sources and providing an assurance that it will work on the RNS510 based on the above minimum FW and software requirements only.

2: Searchable Custom POI.db3 file for RNS510 Units only.
Includes: Most frequently used Custom POI Categories (listed below) inserted into the stock map's All Categories (Alphabetical) Master POI List.
Attachment 24593 Attachment 24594
Added Benefits:
RNS510 will not ordinarily include or return you Custom POIs (loaded via SD Card) in a "tell me what POIs are nearby" type of search.
This added function will also include frequently used Custom POI categories in your random search of all POIs nearby (based on either your current position or a particular place of choice).
Handy function to have when say you're:
1) Visiting a new town or city;
2) Don't actually know where you want to go next; or
3) Can't remember the name of the place (but know that it's nearby).

4: PRICING.
I have decided this year, to offer my 2016 Custom POI files directly to members on this forum for a fee:
$10 for the PersonalPOI.db3 file (to be copied and saved onto your own SD Card); and
$15 for both the PersonalPOI.db3 and the POI.db3 files.
WARNING:
My POI.db3 file needs to be inserted into your current map disc's EDB/POI subfolder to create a modified map and burn this to a new map disc. You will need an ISO & Burn software like IMGBURN to do this.
But more importantly, the RNS510 won't recognise that it's a new map disc (as the CD_XXXX will still be the same).
Unfortunately the best solution is to install an older map to then get it to recognise and install your modified map disc.
Now if it sounds all too hard or you're not confident, then just purchase the $10 PersonalPOI.db3 file only!
That will give you the biggest bang for buck (i.e. 195 Custom POI Categories including all my Cameras POI) and takes 10 seconds to install once saved onto a SD Card and into a new folder named PersonalPOI in the root directory.
You will just miss out on my Custom POIs being included and returned in your random searches, without installing my POI.db3 file.
PM me if you're interested with a purchase! :thumb:

big thanks to Aussietig.
Superfast response, simple process. A++++ work Hugh
Having a bit of a problem with this 'tig......most of the POIs aren't showing up when I turn them on. Haven't checked them all but the only one that seems to work so far is CBA ATMs.
Have deleted and reloaded but it doesn't fix anything.
Unit details:
Part number: 1T0035680D
HW-version: H70
SW-Version: 4120
Map version: 8207
Any hints?
EDIT: Seems to be some sort of weird anomaly with my nav unit.....not an issue 'tigs file!
I think I've got the same issue. I can see the speed limits and warnings that I've selected among my 10 POIs, but the Maccas nearby isn't showing up...
I'll do more testing...
