    Cent Electronics Module Problem?

    Hi,

I installed the reverse camera kit from carsystems.pl on a new Mk6 GTI as described in various posts on Golf forums. After a few dramas, I've realised the reversing light doesn't work. All fuses are intact and the light comes on when I execute the output tests on the central electronics module with VCDS. In VCDS monitoring mode I can see the module gets the reverse signal from the gear box but the reverse light signal output stays at 0%.

If I turn on the light with the VCDS output test, the badge pops and the camera comes up on the RCD510. The reverse line draws 3 mA so I'm pretty sure the central electronics module didn't notice any loading caused by hooking the camera to the light output.

The rear wiper seems to have a similar problem. The wiper and steering wheel wiper switch all pass VCDS self tests but won't work. I know the rear wiper did work when I got the car but living in Qld, there hasn't been any need to run the wiper for months so I don't know when it stopped working.

I suspect a dodgy central electronics module but am totally confused why the outputs work in test mode but not normal operation. Any ideas or suggestions before I take the car to the dealer?

Is the boot lid closed when you try the wiper? The front ones definitely don't move with the bonnet popped. Was there any coding required when you fitted the reverse camera?

There is always coding required when RVC is installed. IMO, it's not the cen. el. module but the coding error or some other error caused by the installer.

Thanks for the sanity check. Just discovered my rear lid has to be closed very hard for the lid open sensor to turn off. It still shuts securely with a normal sort of gravity shut but not enough to register as closed.

All working now except one last niggle. I've only changed byte 3 bit 6 in the radio to tell it that a camera is attached but it generates a fault code looking for a camera module which I didn't get. Does anybody know how to code the RCD510 to stop looking for it?
