Can a sub be hooked up to a rcd510?

Has anyone hooked a aftermarket amplifier and subwoofer into a car with a rcd510 fitted??

No, I still have 20 out of 20 hearing, no need for amplifier yet.

There's no line level outputs so you will have to find something that can take speaker-level inputs, which means the sound quality won't be that great (though should be better than factory). Plus there's no outputs per se, you have to tap into the speaker wires at some point in the car. I think there are adapters that sit between the CANBUS connection and the unit though.

I don't own an RCD-510 so anyone who knows otherwise, correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn't try this or checked if it's correct but it could be worthwhile to check How to make a PnP harness to connect an amplifier to an RNS-510

    You can add a sub.
You have use a Line Ouput Convertor (LOC). Taps into the speaker wire as source and converts it to Line Out so you can run RCA cables to your amp.
You can also buy amps that already support Speaker level input, that means you dont need a separate LOC as it is built into the amp.

LOC range in price and quality. cheap ones are cheap and start from $15-$50. They are usually self powered (passive) ie they do not take exter 12V to do the conversion.

The good ones are Audison Bitone and AudioControl LC6i (cheapest LC6i if from SoundMaster in Granville NSW) They are overkill for just adding a sub because they will do multi channel amp setups LC6i is 6ch (2ch Fronts, 2ch Rear, 2ch Sub) But if you go this route then adding amps to upgrade the stock door speakers is then easy and you already have the best LOC installed for the job. Buy once not cry twice.

My amp has a built in LOC so I simply tapped into my speaker wires and ran those lines to the amp. Easy as to do... just need to learn how to use a soldering iron (and not burn the tip of your finger off).

You can just make 4 4:1 resistive taps and link the outputs together to feed the sub amp input. If the amp has two inputs and can be bridge, then you could separate the output from the 2 channels to reduce crosstalk but if the resistance of the bridge circuit is decently high (say 5.1k ohm with 1.3k ohm for each tap), this will be unnoticable. With a heatshrink and a box, it should cost about $8 in parts.
