Thanks for putting me onto that FHRX place Charisma they got some sweet gear! I've had the Hertz splits in a few cars and will definitely be looking to get them again. Looks like I can get just about everything I need from this place. Now, what 10" sub to buy?

How much you looking at spending?

I'm seriously looking back in the ID range again, they like to rumble despite the size ( something you will need with Hertz splits ).

I have had 2 Audison amps and they are still going strong after much abuse 4 years later. Haven't missed a beat either.

Probably around the $300 mark for a sub, was looking at the Hertz ES250 sub. I haven't had one of their subs before do they perform ok? I've always had JL subs in the past but thought I'd try something different this time. I like very tight, punchy bass, not after big rumble.

Yeah $300 gets you into a very large category of capable 10inch subs.

My only experience with a Hertz sub was a good one. Had a HXS300 and it performed really really well ( considering I only could give half of the RMS of the woofer at the time ). Great thing I love about them is that they will work from very small enclosures. Others to consider:

    Boston G210
    Vibe BlackAir II 10
    ID 10 v3
    JL w0
    Oz Audio Vector
    Treo TSi

    To name a few lol

Yeah it's certainly a big market in that price range. I was VERY impressed with the Hertz splits I had in my last car so thought I may as well try out there subs also. The small enclosure requirements are certainly attractive also. Thanks heaps for your help much appreciated!! Will let you guys know how I go after I visit Sydney next week

Definately - let him know that I sent you and he may give a bigger discount lol.

Seriously make sure you audition as many as possible and ask lots of questions, that way you will be very happy with the end result

Ha yeah and no. Depends on what you class as a lot? Lets just say that it's probably into the 5 figures by now in the last couple of years.

I have yet to stump Marty with a question... car audio wise anyways. They are a great bunch of guys and do top notch installs. I wouldn't drive 2 hours to get there if they didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with people spending insane amounts of money on anything really, if thats your bag, go for it (I have a few of these habits that have cost me a fortune over the years)

Then I look at my high tech setup was purchased for under the cost of the amp your looking at that provides heart beat altering bass and music that (to my ears at least) appears to be clear even at high volumes.

    My kit:
    Pioneer DEH-3050UB - $288
    US Audio4 channel 600W amp - $99
US Audio Sub (in a box) - $49
    Sony 6x9's - $100??

I was first looking at a mono block amp and sub combo but couldn't afford/justify what they were asking.

I would be very interested in seeing a "good" system next to mine for comparrison, especially in the car environment.

It's a shame you never saw the setup in the VR aaron that kicked serious a$$! Wasn't a huge dollar system at about 2k all up including head unit and install but damn it was nice. Hopefully you'll get to see the new system in the Tig
