Looking through the web it seems I might need a firmware update. Anyone performed one of these via blue tooth with success ? Any lessons learnt they can share ?
Hey again,
When I bought my VW Golt 90TSI we optioned the Fiscon blue tooth. Back in 09 we had Nokia phones and all was great. The blue tooth worked a treat. Then went to Iphone 3 no issues. Now with Iphone 4 and the bloody thing won't work properly . The Menu and everything works fine except when I'm in a call the person receiving my call hears lots of noise ect.
Has anyone experienced this and actually sorted it out
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi guys,
Well I'm a little confused after reading through most of this thread. I have a 2012 Passat with a RCD510 head unit including a Bluetooth module. I can stream music but do not have wheel control for track selection etc.
From what I understand I may need to upgrade to a 9W7 Bluetooth module... Must I also upgrade to an RNS510 unit to get full Bluetooth functionality? Would be nice to have music data on the screen also.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
It's the BT unit which determines whether or not you get support for AVHCP or not (controls and track display info). So you likely have an older module. Rns or rcd do not need to be upgraded.

Hi guys,
I'm just in the process of updating my head unit to a RCD510 190B model as my current RCD510 is only a 190. I am particularly after BT media control from the steering wheel and track information displayed. (I've been told I need the 190B to do so!)
I have just looked at the BT module and found it to be 7P6 035 730 B. From investigations this seems to be a 9w7 however, can anyone tell me if this particular model will support media control / track listing or will I have to upgrade the BT module also??
Thanks in advance.
No mate.. Haven't purchased yet in the process!
So I've been experiencing some issues lately with the bluetooth in my mk7 GTI-PP, and its been driving me mental :| hoping there might be a fix out there...
I'm pairing with my HTC One M8, running Android 4.4.4. THe head unit is the standard one that came with the car (which i believe is the Discover Media 5.8")
The pairing process is fine, and phone functionality has no issues. I've had the Mk7 for about 8 months now, and up until the last few weeks everything has been working well.
However, in the last couple of weeks, when i switch the head-unit to bluetooth, while it connected OK, and i can control the phone via the head-unit & steering wheel buttons, (play/pause, mute, next track, etc) the audio will not come out the car's speakers - its coming out of the speakers on the phone itself. This would happen with all audio apps (stock Music player, Spotify, Stitcher, SoundCloud). There is an option for 'Media Output' on the phone, and it was always set to the VW Bluetooth Device
When this first started happening, i would unpair the phone & head-unit, then re-pair, and it would start working. Then the next time it happened, i had to un-pair/re-pair about 4-5 times before it would commence working again. Then that fix wouldn't take, i would have to un-pair, delete all BT devices from both phone & head-unit, reboot the phone, and then re-pair. Again that would work for a while.
But then this morning it was getting even worse - after going through that whole process above a few times, the audio started coming out of the car's speakers, but then mid-track, without even touching either the phone or head-unit, it switched to the phone's speakers again. Happened a couple of times on my morning commute...
Needless to say, this issue has been causing me much rage-ahol . Mainly around the inconsistency of the symptoms or any possible fix - it just seems to occur randomly and with no discernible pattern
Anyone know of anything i could do to try and remedy the situation? i have got it booked in to my local VW dealer for an un-related issue, and there service mgr i spoke to did indicate they have had some issues with BT and the head-units, which have been replaced under warranty. If that fixes it - great! But part of me is worried its something with the phone - possibly a Android/HTC update or some such...

Sounds like a phone issue. I would try with another phone first if you can. I have that phone with a custom ROM and have never had any such issues.
The Android L update will be out at some point in the future but if you are running the stock carrier ROM on your phone that might be a few months at least.
