Thanks kamold, will check once it arrives.
Would expect firmware 3970 and maps version 4.2.
If you do get anything different please let us know.

A couple of weeks ago when I picked up my Skoda it had firmware 3984 & maps 7492 (4.1). I didn't get a map disc & whilst I ultimately paid for it, not worth the hassle asking.
Suffice to say within a week, I've upgraded to firmware 4020 & maps 7679Some things are best done yourself.
I didn't get a map disk when I bought mine, but I asked the local dealer service manager for one and he got one ordered in for me.
It's outdated but at least I have an original there in the glovebox.

So to give an update I have recieved the 510 with a hardware version of h61, software 3970 and map version 7492. Which I assume is 4.1.
So no revelations with a new model but where should I go to next with regard to updates. If its worth going anywhere at all?
Update maps to v5 and firmware to 4020. No big feature changes with the firmware but it will maximise space on the HDD for music. And map update gives you new maps obviously but also speech entry for destination selection.

Oh really, I might have to update from v4 and try that. Someone did say there's a setting to turn off the speed limit display, correct?
So is the 4020 firmware in the aussie updates thread a custom one or an original. Only mention this as you said the silly hard drive partitions have now been addressed, did VW do this themselves?
Im due to drop by in a month or so to the dealers for the initial check up and can possibly hit them up for these updates, just wondering if doing it myself runs into any issues with warranty?
It's custom. Vw would never be so helpful. They will never know you changed the partition scheme. 4020 firmware isn't loaded on factory units in aus to date as far as we are aware but it won't show as an error or anything from a diagnostics scan.
However as usual you load custom firmware at your own risk.

Thanks for the clarification, a big help. I'll get things organised this week.
