Might have to get one then, I'm getting annoyed with the default digital speedo again. Changed the display to focus on the analog one but the wheel rim blocks the view of the top of it (can't needle tip see from 80 to 110+) if I have everything adjusted as recommended by the Driving Experience tuition.
That said I still don't feel like pulling my wipers off to get at the CAN Gateway

I think I'll be buying one of these devices just for the flexible speedo display - I much prefer using the digital speedo but find it annoying that you can't have the speed displayed all the time in the MFD - surely the speed reading would be a more useful 'always on' display than my compass heading or the time? If the FIS+ can display speed along with some other useful information that would be perfect.
I'll have to double check but I had a feeling that the MFD digital speedo in my parent's Tiguan displays the *actual* speed - from memory it certainly reads lower than the analog speedo. The MFD display in the R on the other hand is exactly as you describe - displaying the analog 'adjusted' speedo reading.
Yes but it takes ~20 seconds to get there after holding buttons and finding it, then repeat if you have to switch back to another screen to do something. I did it once or twice to verify but it's not really a permanent solution compared to modifying the MDI

OK. So now we need a flat road, cruise control "on" and then reports on all 3 speeds thanks

The digital speed in the Tig will be the same as in the Golf - more accurate than the analogue gauge (yes, they are different, and yes, they are both out), but still with some fudge-factor padding in there for safety/legal compliance (in Australia, the speedo must be 100% accurate or read over, never under).

Do you just scroll through the pages with the left/right arrows on the steering wheel, as you do with the "standard" pages (main, radio, navigation, settings etc)? That'll make for quite a few pages in there to cycle through now! Can you enable/disable the extra pages at will?

Sort of, you cycle left/right to go through the different sets (like main, radio, nav, phone etc) but when on the FIS menu you then press up/down to cycle through the 6 different set of screens. AFAIK there is no way to disable any of the sets/screens.
