Any one of 45 things, aristocrat.

The more I search read and think, the more complex it all seams.

    Hence I need expert help.

Have an MFD1 in an 06 Multivan. Right tweeters not working, no disc for the sat nav, no connection for an ipod, sounds crap when you crank it.

I can fiddle around the edges, but sometimes its better to bite the bullet and go the full upgrade.

Or, am I better getting the MFD working properly, upgrade the speakers and amp it.

Last thing I want to do is back it into bash and slash installs, then spend twelve months sorting problems.

So I'm looking for someone that knows what they're doing, and can help me.

Get a much better sound system.

There has to be someone worth recommending in Melbourne.

    Anyone?

Do you not want to have a tinker yourself? Like, if your tweeter is not working, maybe you can replace them yourself? Do you not have the time or inclination?

Sorry I haven't got anybody in mind, but perhaps somebody else in this forum could shed some light. Anyone?

I used No Limit Electronics in South Melbourne. They upgraded the speakers in my Tig and Dynomatted the doors for me. They were also the people who my dealer used to fit the car alarm.

They have a website here Welcome to No Limit

John Bergman from autofidelity, his # is 0411 191 411 or email jon@autofidelity.com

The did a great job on my R36 and specialise in high end stuff. Workshop was full of brand new Q5's and even an Aston Martin. They take great care in protecting your dash, trims, etc..when performing the work.

    Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Love tinkering, aristocrat. And I love bloody good sound systems.
I'm just very cautious ripping things apart blind.
I made a few booboos in the T4 and ended up with a few busted clips and locaters.
It all worked ok in the end though.
The T5 just seems to be a lot different, particularly the electronics.
I know bugger all about Canbus and vagcom, only found of their existence when I started searching through this site a short while ago, and still don't completely understand them.
And as for the tweeter, I don't know if the top grill clips off, and if it does from what side first? Or do you have to access from underneath (I hope not, looks busy under there).
I have had a good look through here, and on Brickyard, amongst a few other sites and I can't find anything that shows what clips there are behind things like tweeter grills, front doors, rear speaker panels. I did find a T5 front door on Brickyard, but different door trim.
I've got some keys coming shortly, so I can pull the HU out and have a poke around there to start with, get an idea of whats behind, plugged in etc.
I'll then get some decent trim tools and try and gently get things off after I've removed any obvious screws etc.
And I sort of get the feeling I may find it difficult getting help through here, cos most are over the repetitive questions on the same topic. I understand that, but it doesn't solve my problem.

And thanks for the referrals, tanehy and adrock.

Yes I would like to upgrade things myself, but sometimes the pros do it that much easier.

I'll have a chat to both, see what pans out.

I understand where you're coming from as regards to a whole new learning curve with computer controlled canbus. I am on the same learning curve too, having recently bought a Ross-Tech Vagcom cable. Now I can see what individual modules are doing to the car.

I recently retrofitted an RNS-510 into my R32 and it did need some reprogramming, and it was a success. I even upgraded the firmware from Maverick's site my-gti.com. He is a wealth of knowledge, so if you have time, perhaps you can have a look through his diy stuff there.

Good luck with your install from the professionals. If someone's been highly recommended from this forum, they shouldn't let you down.

    Cheers

Called into No Limit today in South Melbourne, aristrocrat, and had a good talk with Mark. He's a human, also has a modded T4 out the back.
He suggested the new Eclipse AVN726EA head unit, Blaupunkt THB 200A sub, and Hertz splits up front and Hertz components at the back. No amp.
I noticed the Hertz had a sensitivity of 93, so I might go with his recommendation that they don't really need amping.
I just have to decide if I book it in, try it myself, or look into it further.
