    Audi A3 1998 Audio

    Hey Guys,

i have just recently purchased an Audi A3 1.8T , love her to bits but need some decent tunes going ,
i have pulled door cards off and noticed they are only 4' speakers , so my question is who has put something bigger in and how much of a pain in the arse is it ?
All speakers will need replacing and I really want a nice crisp speaker , so whats your thoughts ?

    Thanks in advance Jess

Watch those speakers as they are a funny fitment, if it's the same as my S3 they only have 3 screws to hold them in. You can get adapter rings from a guy in the UK on ebay. Hit me up if you need them and I'll find him again. Worth waiting 10days for something that fits perfectly. HE makes a sub box to replace the Bose factory one which is cool as.

Personally, I think you can get decent sound out of speakers in the factory positions and then have something better in the back.

So you just keep with 4' in the front and put nice large ones in the back ? I havent even looked at what i could fit in the back , there look like there is room for larger speakers in the front its just a mounting thing i cannot get my head around . They have the weird 3 screw thing .
I was almost thinking of putting the sub in the side pillars in the boot , 2 little ones either side , not sure yet thou , just a thought at this stage .

I forget what stereo Jimmy was in the car when Jimmy had it. Don't think it was Audi. I'd get adapters to fit 4 inch components in the front and rear then andymacs stealthsub for the boot. It depends on budget really. I have a 4 way amp you can have real cheap, which would get you going. If you find some money swap it out for something better. All the wiring can stay the same.

    Have a read here.

Andymac is the guy making the adapter rings.
