    Anyway to boost Radio/Aerial Reception?

    Hi guys,

I fitted a shark fin antennae, and while it looks awesome. The reception is only marginally better than if I was to unscrew the OEM item.

Is there anyway to boost the signal?

I am aware of boosters one can fit on, but are they any good?

    Thanks,

    Justin

    Oh o.

Are there 'good ones' and 'bad ones'?

It was from america, and was about $25USD

OEM HU, which I think was a little weak as well...

Yep and there are different types for different amps. The OEM ones are around $100-200 but now and again you can pick up some genuine OEM ones cheaper on ebay.

Sharkfins will not work as well as a whip antenna and Golfs that have one from the factory have a better antenna in the rear hatch. Depends on the areas where you're using it and how much you listed to the radio.

How did you go fitting the unit, just popped the C pillar trim and lowered the back section of the roof lining? Did the connector for the antenna fit ok?

Are the OEM ones made by/for VW?

I listen to the radio 65% of the time.

I popped one side of c-pillar trim, and squeezed hands and breaker bar (that's all I had) through there.

the clip/surround on the shark fin end was too big for the car's side. I had to bend 2 sides, because it is segmented into four and just wouldn't go into the other end. but the connection is there, its not loose

It looks so good. AND i got it colour coded!

No way to boost the signal?
