I have had warranty claims but I've actually never come across a DOA unit. It most likely is a bad connection / solder within the unit. Do the buttons light up with the headlights, or is there no response at all? Definitely sounds like a back to base case unfortunately... I would open a PayPal case while you still can. I've personally always dealt with Michael from Audiosources and I know he's been good to distributors and one-off customers alike, but because of their wholesale focus these days the same can't be said for all the other sales reps.

No response at all unfortunately. I believe I can open a case through Paypal within 45 days so I have about 2 weeks left.

After I told them I might file a case, Jason finally responded but he still went back to the beginning to get him picture for the connector which is useless. I already confirmed the unit will not turn on at all while there is power going through the harness.

He also mentioned that if nothing works after I try connecting it to straight 12V power which is my car battery, I can send it back for repair but I would have to pay for shipping for a DOA unit which I believe is unreasonable.

The policy on the ANS series from the factory is that you pay shipping one way within the first 3 months, and both ways after that until 1 year which is when the warranty expires.

Does this unit have a fuse? Have you checked this?

Wholesalers are really not there to provide tech support to end users. The traditional distribution model is manufacturer > wholesaler > retailer > customer. If you shortcut the process and buy further up the supply chain you may get a cheaper price, however you'll usually pay for it in other ways (i.e. support, etc).

You can sometimes save yourself some $ doing this, however there are times when you are better off paying extra for a reputable reseller who supports the product and customer. I don't think that it is unreasonable for a wholsaler to ask you to return the goods for a replacement. You would normally have to do this in a retail environment too (take it back into the store). The wholesaler will have to pay for the return freight to the manufacturer so unfortunately everyone pays when there is a faulty product that gets shipped from a factory.

The cost to the distribution chain for a faulty product can be quite high and sometimes it's not worth returning the goods and just binning them (not saying this is the case here).

I downloaded the software and installed it. The cd player and SD card wont seem to work now. When I insert the CD, it goes to the welcome to VW logo, the same with the SD Card. I updated the software MCU again to see if that will fix it with no luck. I have tried the D0 version. Do I copy the MCU update right onto the root folder and overwrite the existing one??? It reads the Nav fine.

Anyone have any ideas???? The MPEG and Servo are blank.. Now I cant get the SD card or the CD ROm slot to read it just stays on the welcome to VW logo..

I am assuming that you have already been back to the supplier of your unit?

Forum sponsor DkN is a supplier of these units here in Australia. I am sure if you had bought the unit from him that he would help you out. Did you buy the support/firmware updates from him?
