my 810 has been ok, cant complain for something that only cost £400 but the screen feels cheap and sometimes the functionality isn't great - saying that its very oem looking and everyone who sees it is impressed.

Depends on what version of ans you have . Later ones have a Brown wire you can tap camera power into. Early may need relay.

Hi Sandy, please help? I finally got around to installing the update that fixes the reverse camera screen issue that pops up when you go into reverse.

I inserted the SD and hit yes. Then had to let my fiance out of the driveway while it was thinking so went into reverse and the unit froze. So tried again and it won't read anything from that SD slot, USB or CD/DVD, it just stalls on the Volkswagen screen. The only functions that work are Phone, GPS and Radio.

However I tried the 2nd part of the update process and it worked fine from the GPS slot and fixed the reverse camera issue just fine. But I still have no luck with reading form the other SD slot, USB or CD/DVD.

    Cheers.

So you put it into reverse while it was updating? Sounds like that messed with the update...

It's pretty much like I said just a few posts back, SD / USB / DVD all failing together is a sign that the unit's media decoder chip is not functioning. And since this happened when it appears the MPEG update was interrupted...

What you need is a new DVD drive, the decoder chip is on the back of it. You need to take the unit out, undo the screws holding in the top lid of the unit (where the PIN diagram label is) and take it off, unscrew the plates holding in the DVD and then unplug it. The plug itself is fixed with hot melt glue from factory as a precaution, you can sever the glue at the plug with a stanley knife, just don't damage the board. Then reverse the procedure for the new DVD drive. As I said I think the DVD drive is ~$40 and shipping about ~$35, I will confirm the pricing and can order it for you to ship direct to your address if you want.

Mate if that's the case I'm not happy at all. Just another issue with this bloody unit. When updating all it says is don't switch off not "don't go in reverse gear".

And do I have to remind you the only reason we have the reverse camera issue in the first place is because you wrongly sent out the incorrect update via email which I still have and have posted prior in this thread where you apologised. So the fact is the only reason I had to perform this lasted update is to fix your error. Therefore I really don't think it's up to me to pay anything all at. Needless to say these unit aren't even meant for my car which were specifically advertised as being. Wrong colour scheme and not happy about having to permanently butcher the unit cavity just to even make it fit (which it still doesn't properly).

Please PM me with a solution that's not going to make me REALLY mad.

Ok I did not send out the wrong update, I sent the latest update, which had the issue of showing the OPS screen for cars without RVC. I found out after some customers mentioned this to me, and so I sent out an earlier version of MCU which did not have this issue, and reported the problem to Audiosources. I apologised for sending the MCU fix only to a few who asked for it rather than everyone, as I thought I did. At which point is any of this MY fault? I am trying to provide support. You're welcome to try and find any other distributor that even bothers sending customers updated firmware.

Let's also not forget that I sent an MCU file and said to flash this file to fix the RVC issue and now you're saying it's my fault you flashed the MPEG as well and broke the unit. As for the fitment, I didn't know about this until after the unit arrived and the first customer put it in, and it was only about 5mm out from a flush fit because the Polo cavity is smaller than the Golf 4 and Passat. There was a lot of detailed information given by forum members about this like here:

    ANS-420 into Polo 9N3

And I notified all ANS-420 customers as soon as I found out. As for wrong colour scheme, I'm not sure what you mean there - you can choose from VW red or Skoda green within the software. The unit itself was available in dark grey or silver exterior.

I thought people would have the sense to not touch things when updating firmware on electronics, but fair enough there was nothing specific to tell you not to do other things with the unit while updating. All things considering I have decided I will bear the cost of the replacement drive this time, though I almost feel this is beyond what I need to do after your last message. Next time I suggest you save yourself some grace and try not to accuse the person who is trying to help you.

Thanks I appreciate it, just frustrated with this product. And in all fairness I wouldn't be here if there wasn't an update that caused the issue in the reverse issue in the first place.

Hello all, I am a new member on here. I know a lot of members purchased a deck from DKN or audiosources here which is why I am coming here to ask for help.

I recently purchased ANS610 for my mk5 jetta directly from Audiosource. From my understanding, this deck is straightly plug and play which my mechanic helped me to install and my result was the deck would not turn on at all.

It is similar to the issue in this youtube video, it just would not turn on.
VW Golf 2007 head unit upgrade to ANS810 - YouTube

We used a test light to confirm there was power going through the unit but it still would not turn on. My dad has a mk6 golf which I tried installing in his as well with no luck.

I am trying to see if any member has similar issue and how did you guys fix it?

I've been sending emails back and forth for last 3 weeks with Jason from Audiosource but he didn't give me any solid solution at all after he told me to check all the things he wanted me to check such as confirming the canbus unit is inside the deck and wires are plugged in properly, etc.

Problem is, he did not reply any of my email for the last week at all. I am slowly getting frustrated without knowing what to do or should I even report this to PayPal?

    Thank you all in advance!
