Sorry to get off track on this thread but I just wanted to provide some feedback on the ANS units. We have now sold quite a few through slickonline.

    One word... Awesome!

We have had a few niggling issues in the beginning with setup and one unit not quite behaving with the iPod cable. But either then that we have had awesome feedback about these from ALL our customers. Sandy has brilliant knowledge about the product and answers my calls at anytime to assist.

We would high recommend these to anyone looking to get one. I know some of the cheaper copies out there get a bad wrap, but these units are in a league of their own.

    Good work Sandy!

Where did you get these from? Directly from Audiosources? My 2 weeks old unit has M99 and 130112.m1.T0 (I assume M106 would be newer than M99)

How is the SD card folder browsing with those versions? Any difference to other versions?

    Then another more general question:
Has anyone had a look inside the unit? How is the integrated mic built? As the mic does not work too well I was wondering if one could replace that with an external one. My car used to have VW Touch phone kit and therefore I have a mic already installed and the mic's cable has a standard 3,5 mm plug. Therefore I was thinking about soldering a piece of cable with 3,5 mm socket to the same connections as the ANS's integrated mic uses...

    I just updated to:

    MPU: ANS510AS.M99
    MCU: ans510.130112.m1.D0

FM station problem seems fixed but now I have a high beep sound when the unit is ON ( the beep was there before but much much lower)

No differences I can see there.
Ive been playing around with Rev cam issues mainly. (not fully resolved yet)
Most find the mic on the unit ok.
Problems Ive had with people hearing me have always been as to where my iphone is.
In poor signal areas when on my belt sound sometimes drops down but always fixed for person on other end when I lift phone up to top pocket.
I added a microphone jack on a previous unit (that had a Bad internal mic) by unsoldering int mic and running a wire to an inline jack.

    Hi Guys,

Well done for a very helpful thread, I have just installed the ANS-810 in my 2007 Octavia VRS here in the UK, and ive encountered an odd problem I wasnt expecting and wondered if DKN or someone could help..

To be honest prior to installing the unit I was expecting to lose the functionality or my factory fit reverse parking and the climate display on the unit (all of which worked fine on my stream MP3 unit), however I was surprised to find that the parking sensors worked fine, gave me the beeps, muted the stereo and showed how far away i am.. I also get the door open status displayed which is a bonus.. but I do not get the climate displayed??? any ideas if there is a setting ive missed somewhere on the unit? or is it my CAN gateway thats not up to the job?

    My can version is below

Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 1K0-907-530.lbl
    Part No SW: 1K0 907 530 H HW: 1K0 907 951
    Component: J533__Gateway H12 0150
    Revision: H12 Serial number:

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, there isnt too much in the way of manuals or anything for this unit so im finding things out by trial and error at the min...

One other thing, does this unit play MP4 files? ive tried it but the unit only seems to see AVI/DivX at the min

Final niggle, is there a way to get the screen to display the full title of a song (scroll the display) and also to get full 7 digit postcode search?

Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions, only just starting to get to grips with this unit...

    Dave

I would guess 2007 Octavia does not support the AC display and therefore you do not see it on the ANS either.

As fas as I know MP4s don't work. I tried a couple of files in that format too.

Song title length is a feature and cannot be changed unless Audiosources fixes it with a future firmware, which I really hope they will do. It would also be nice to be able to browse the folders without being thrown back to starting point. Having the files in correct order would be a cool bonus on top of the 2 more critical issues.

For newer navigation software, visit navitotal.com. I got my iGo Primo 2.4 from there.

This is most likely to do with your climatronics unit not the CAN-Bus. I recently upgraded my mk5 Golf climatronics to the mk6 version, and the upgrade brought the AC info display with it. It's interesting that the climate display worked on your old unit though - maybe Skoda did something different because AFAIK this is something that did not exist for 2007 VW vehicles and were only added in more recent models.

I've come to believe it does not play mp4 files even though it's stated that it does. I think they are talking about m4a instead of actual video mp4 files, but I've not had the time to test myself.

song title display is something Audiosources needs to update, and hopefully will do soon because I've been asking for some time, though they've been busy with the new unit recently.

when you say 7 digit post code I'm assuming you mean for your navigation - for iGo you need a different licence code to activate that function (default length is restricted to 4 digits). If your software did not come with this you'd have to hunt it down yourself, it'll likely be out there on navitotal.com as Hans Byxor suggested, or just a good old Google search in general might return you with something.

Thanks for the info DKN, Ive been chatting to Rita at audiosources today and they seem to believe that it wont work due to my car not having automatic climate control, although as far as i can tell it has (due to having auto button etc) and like you say, odd that it worked previously on the original stream unit but does not on the ANS.. although the door CUE and PDC do work!! Madness....

Do you know if its a straight swap to replace the climate controls? I had a look when changing the unit and as best i can tell its just torx screws that hold it in and replace with new version?

I may end up giving this a go and seeing if it works..

    Thanks again DKN

You need to first check if the parts all fit - if it's anything like the Golf it would, just a matter of you getting the new generation's trim plus the climatronics itself. It's not just plug and play though, at least for the Golf. You need to swap one of the pins with another on the climatronics unit to get the memory for the controls working (so they don't reset every time you start the car) and also run a VCDS calibration (without this your compressor will not work i.e. no air con).

Again things might be different for the Octavia, best to research before taking the plunge. Could be a bit much depending on how comfortable you are with modding things in your car.

Just a comment though, I can't say I really pay much attention to the new AC menu - probably more show-off value than anything else. The door display is actually useful for those times when I don't pay attention to the MFD - especially the display for boot open, the first time I didn't shut the boot properly I couldn't figure out why the damned car icon on the MFD wouldn't go away because I didn't even notice the boot part was filled in (meaning it's open). Now a nice big colour image pops up on my 8" screen to remind me
