I just installed my ANS810; and so far I love it; however I do have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone here might be able to answer. I access the hidden menu by pressing and holding the middle of the left side of the Aux In screen. Under the "Modle" tab, I see my option to turn off OPS. I set it to OFF but when I put my car in reverse, the OPS screen still pops up. How do I get this to save correctly? I do have the M99 firmware. Additionally, there is a setting for "Car Back A Track". What is this? Thanks for your help. I never would have purchased this head unit if it weren't for the information I've received from this forum. Keep up the good work!

[QUOTE=richmurphy;945531]You'd have to be mad to drive with a movie playing. Satnav is distracting enough and I'd be more concerned about crashing than getting a ticket TBH. It's more for the 30 minutes I have to wait with child #2 between childcare and picking up child #1 from school. Anyway, not the end of the world by a long shot... back in my day we didn't even have television... we played with sticks.

Well they are out there. When I haunted the Caravan forums was a guy who wanted to know if he could mount a screen above the dash to watch movies on "long boring drives" What an idiot He got heaps off other posters but probably wouldnt have stopped him.
Have seen numerous tradies reading things when driving, a woman in a BMW also reading some papers and a courier with a refidex open on his steering wheel. In Colombo St Christchurch a girl in a Porsche reading a book in busy traffic. Seems the actual driving is only a spare time thing with people like that.

Does the ANS-810 actually allow you to play movies while driving anyway? Wouldn't that violate some design regulation or something?

I can't tell you how often I've had to pull over, struggle to get my phone out of my pocket just so I can lookup an address or phone number (or read a spreadsheet but I won't hold my breath for that). Actually a phone mirror would be sensational as I could use bookmarks etc from my phone.
The new unit's mirroring function has nothing to do with the mirrorlink company. It's a true mirroring function so it actually reflects your phone's screen. However it is only available for Android, at least for now.

I have told Audiosources about the OPS not turning off but the technician seems to think it does - I will confirm again, he had thought I just needed to update to M99 but based on your feedback that doesn't appear to be the case.

Car Back A Track is for the reversing path, but I'm not sure if these settings are working yet.

I haven't actually tried this (had no reason to) but I think it does allow it. The ANS has outputs for rear seat screens, and the only purpose of that would be to play movies while driving. Unless they designed a safety lock that only turns on when there's no rear screen signal, there may not be any safety lock at all.

In China it is common to have aftermarket head units that play videos while driving - like many pointed out, no one is really stupid enough to watch videos and drive (or at least anyone with commonsense wouldn't), it's really for the passengers. Having said that, it IS illegal here in Australia and many other countries regardless of who's actually watching, so do it at your own risk.

Well to be fair you haven't given any info other than "it will have a very cool, mirrorlink-like way of connecting with Android phones". I'm sure 99.99% of people have never heard of Mirrorlink so a better description would be appreciated... which you have now provided.

Yes sorry about the confusion. Mirroring is used often these days to refer to this type of function but it's easy to get it mixed up with Mirrorlink.

If you have an Android phone with office apps installed its entirely possible to view your spreadsheets on the new Audiosources unit. Of course the link is via the micro USB slot so you'd have to remember to connect your phone when you get into the car.

    Hi all,

I registered here only because of this thread. Thanks to DkN for sharing his knowledge here so actively.

I got tired of waiting for the new models and ordered an ANS610 directly from Audiosources as it was the only way to get one in Finland. I got the unit on Tuesday and its already installed too. Otherwise the unit works just fine but there are a few software (M99 version) issues:

    1. RADIO hard button does not scroll through FM1, FM2, FM3, AM which is quite annoying.

    2. Radio station memory place selection does not work perfectly. When choosing any station between 2 and 6 the display usually returns to 1 and stays at selected place only after 2nd press.

    3. MP3 files on SD card do not appear in correct order. I have files listed in folders artist\album\ as "01. song name.mp3", "02. song name.mp3" and so on like they were on original CD but on ANS they do not appear in that same order.

    4. The door cue car picture does not follow car setting.

Any chance these could get fixed in future updates?

Otherwise I love my new toy. Radio reception is quite good with amplified double fakra adapter. The navigation (iGo Primo 2.4) works very well and the GPS signal is very good even having the antenna inside the dashboard. Thanks to this forum I did pack the extra cable in figure 8.

    Edit:
Has anyone modified the connections to get car's original AUX IN to work? The cables are there on the Quadlock accessory connector but all the available quadlock adapters are going the wrong way, i.e. they have male 12pin quadlock and female RCA for example. For ANS one would need quadlock female to RCA male though. Of course I could cut the cable and solder it back together but it is a company car and I need to be able to put the original RCD310 back at some point.

    Hi Hans

I have reported the FM issue to Audiosources for a couple of month ago - so i relay hop that is is solved in the next firmware releas.
If you turn off the RDS function the problem disappears.

Turning off the RDS is the answer. It is only of use where you have all radio stations on a particular network using the same descriptive name. If the signal from the frequency being used drops, the system searches for the next available frequency that has the same name. In Australia, this is of no help as each station has its own name and in many cases no name, so if you are is a spot where the signal drops, it goes hunting and ends up on station 1 in a particular band.
