Radio RDS is limited by hardware as the chip they use does not support RDS-Text. Bluetooth, again, is limited because it is using Bluetooth 2.0 chip using early A2DP standards. You are right the unit was released in 2012 but the hardware for this kind of product does not keep up nearly as well as smartphones. 700Mhz ARM11 CPU and 128MB of RAM was actually above average for a unit of its type at the time of its release, in a world where many devices still ran separate GPS boards and claimed 600Mhz was high speed. The focus has always been on software. The situation is unfortunate but believe me it has been just as much of a learning experience for Audiosources, and from what I know of the new platform they have learned a LOT.

The hardware limitation is not an excuse, its the truth of the current setup. It was decent for an aftermarket GPS unit at the time, but it is still hardware that is maybe 5 years old. When you make it run 3D 2012 software and make it constantly track and communicate with modern CAN-Bus systems it begins to run out of juice, as Audiosources found out. This was not foreseen at the time and even if no new platform is to be released, there is really not much more that can be done with the current hardware.

Again, I understand it is disappointing news for current customers but from Audiosources's perspective they are doing the best they can and they are striving to stay ahead rather than settle for what they have. It's not easy for a company (not to mention the significant investment required) to start over with a brand new product when their latest product has only been out for less than a year and is successful.

Is it at least possible that while no further feature development will occur with the ANS 510/810 firmware after the next release that at least they could provide bug fixes when a significant enough bug is discovered? It would be a nice gesture and help us avoid the feeling of abandonment. Just a hopeful, and I feel reasonable, thought.

It's possible and would depend on what kind of bug it is, it's ultimately not up to me to decide but I will push for what I can.

They desperately need to fix the lag time on the SD card and DISC when searching through folders is WAY to short of time. Its downright dangerous to drive and try to select something. A very simple update I would imagine - could you please relay this concern again to them? I can live with the crappy SD/DISC folder navigation but not the lack of time to select tracks/folders.

    Thanks DkN!

I'm sure that's already been fixed, but I think that was in an experimental version of the firmware I received just before I left. Don't have to worry about that one

When is the newest firmware coming out? I remember you saying they were just sending you some links and it was good to go right? Over the weekend a possibility?

I've already received the firmware for BT 20120405, just waiting on 20111115 so I can send both out together.

Will the update include the fixes with the way long tracks are handled? I have brought it up in the past, whenever I play tracks that are long (i.e 2hr dj sets), the ANS doesn't let me skip through to certain parts of the set, and it loses its place in the set if I switch to phone mode and back to music, very frustrating and the "Fast forward" feature is of no use as its too slow.

Hey DkN.. in the recent firmware they sent me. There's ASP network settings for 3G dongle and there's a browser page too... I tried but they're not working yet. Are they going to release this for actual 3G usage in the next firmware too?
