That's odd - does this happen without any operation of the unit? You just turned it on when it could not find a signal? I know if you press the scan button it will exhibit the exact behaviour you described - maybe the unit tries to be too smart and auto scan when it boots with no signal in its presets. If that is the case I will definitely get this fixed.

I works fine today after I retune all channel. Just that it wasnt on the right channel that was last selected. The screen shows the that the 3rd channel is selected, byt it was on the first.

What i think causes all my channel to reset was the RDS AF settings on the preset.

Any chance they gonna make the length of the text in the sd to display more than 15 characters?

    Thanks

    Ok, I have a question.

The upgrade procedure requires a 2 or 4 GB microSD card. The problem is that in trying to track one down there are 4 GB microSD and 4 GB microSDHC cards. When questioned, I get told that the HC version has "higher capacity". What? Does the 4 GB microSDHC have more than 4 GB of storage capacity?

The upgrade procedure requires a card formatted with FAT ( not FAT32 or NTFS) due to hardware/software in ANS unit.

Technically SDSC go UP TO 4gb and and are pre-shipped formatted with FAT format.
SDHC are UP TO 32gb using FAT32.

Some 4gb cards are SDSC, others are SDHC. Capacity difference is not much but FAT32 has more room in index for more files.

It's getting hard to find SDSC cards now, so you might have to specifically format an SDHC card to FAT, or use windows disk management tool to partition your massive SDHC card to have a single 4gb pprimary partition, wasting the extra space.
Technically SD card are formatted differently than Windows can do it and there are special SD format utilities, but I've never seen a real world problem.

It's not really an issue, I have always used Kingston 4gb SDHC cards. They are shipped formatted to FAT32 but it's easily formatted to FAT by just using the Windows built-in formatter (right click on drive -> format).

    Hi Sandy,

Any idea at all on whether a Mac computer is also able to re-format the SDHC to FAT? We've only got Mac here unfortunately, and I just want to make sure when I grab an ANS810 from you that I'll be able to do the periodic upgrades you supply?

Unfortunately I don't think there's a native way to format to FAT on a Mac (only FAT32). I do think Mac can work with a FAT drive though, so it's best to borrow a Windows computer somewhere and format your SD card to FAT, in the future you wouldn't need to re-format, just delete all and replace with new firmware files.

Something I've only just noticed. With the Satnav on, and the car is stationary (engine on), and you press the next/prev buttons on the steering wheel, it will go to the next/start of track (USB/SD card) as expected. If the car is moving, there seems to be a monumental (more than 15 seconds) delay for the action to take place. I don't know if the new fw fixes this as I haven't upgraded yet (still looking for a small size microsd).

Can anyone check this out for me please?

The new firmware will make things run faster, but the navigation does take up quite a bit of the RAM, I never had a delay that long though. I suggest turning 3D buildings off under map settings if you find that the unit is unresponsive.
