hurruh so i finished the install myself. the wiring was a lot harder than i thought. i ended up cutting out the plastic at the back of the dash to get it to fit. i have no idea how i would of done it otherwise.

so... things ive noticed.. the DTV just.. dosnt work. its not really an intergrated part of the software. takes you to some chinese aftermarket thing with finger overlay.. but meh. no biggy. but yep scanned and scanned and could not pick up a single channel. not sure why

also. turning the unit on.....i cant quite work out its power up setup. if i put my foot on tbe brake and start the car .. it wont turn the unit on. if i turn the key and then start the c ar it will. hmmmm

the MFD just dosnt work. which i suspected it wouldnt. i presume it only works for CANBUS 2.0 and not 1.6 i might get an adaptor. i dont ahve an "audio" setting on the MFD

Phone works... much the same as any other BT feature. its alright.. people say it sounds tinny but thats no different to the others

the knobs on the previous chinese aftermarket where chrome and looked nice. these are just dull silver and feel loose

the screen is bigger

AM/FM reception is great. the previous owner had a farka to antenna plug already. so... no need to just have the one arial plugged in.

the AV IN/out I hadnt plugged in yet . not untill i find someone brave enough to install the rearview camera

there is ALOT of cabelling shoved under the top flip box. and the box dosnt work... great and smooth... it still opens and shuts but it takes some persuaion. i drilled 2 holes into the bottom and ran the ipod and USB in there. looks neat

all in all.. .its early days. but 8/10

the units could always run faster. thats my biggest beef. on my 10 year old camry with its factory nav. there was no delay switching between satnav and radio etc. no load time either.. but. hey what can you do

For the DTV, I suspect you may not have the correct firmware. I will send out new firmware soon anyway, will see afterwards. I presume you connected both of the dual antennas for the DTV module?

The unit does work with CAN-Bus 1.6. Which year Touareg do you have? The thing with Touareg is that it has its own unique CAN-Bus (not sure if its hardware or just software) which is different with other VWs except T5 2010+. For the usual CAN-Bus the unit is compatible across the whole platform including cars with half screen MFD. For those with full screen MFDs, the audio screen will show in MFD regardless of CAN-Bus version. It's possible that there's something of a special case for the older Touareg CAN-Bus that may have been missed though? This will also explain the odd power behaviour. We will see if the latest firmware makes any difference, otherwise I need to speak with the technician.

Latest firmware does make the unit boot a little faster and has general speed improvements.

Switching from satnav to radio is pretty quick, although I find if I am navigating, the first time I attempt to switch it may be slow to respond, after that it's pretty much instantaneous. You may also see improvements after the firmware update.

I cant get any sound out of the unit at all. Also when I try change it to Skoda from VW and display colour to green it does not keep the setting though other settings that I change it retains. Eg right hand side driver.

What procedure are you using to change the theme?

are you certain the cables are properly connected? I can send you new firmware to see if that helps.

You can expect BT phonebook alphabetical fix and proper ID3 tag music browsing in iPod mode. OBD function testing is well under way but probably still a couple of releases away. Uncertain what other updates will be included in the coming release but I should have it by the end of the week.

Any word on a new firmware update? I haven't seen one in at least a month and change now..

so one full day of use now.. it still has crazy power issues. sometimes it just dosnt turn on and i have to turn the car off and then turn on again. still takes a while to turn on at that case as well.
the radio is mental. when you turn on the radio the first time it randomly cycles through frequencies untill you hit a preset station and stops it

the preset station highlighted isnt always the one thats playing.

Finally installed my ANS-810, quite happy with the unit. I do however have a question, is there a way for the seat warmer icon to be displayed on the unit like my OEM RCD510.

I have not had mine turn on randomly, but the other day I drove into an underground carpark with the radio on. Naturally it lost signal. I went and did what I had to and then started the car up and drove out. When it got the radio signal again, it was on some other station and band.

By the way, what is AS TP, etc mean? This appears just above the AM and FM buttons when you press the Band "button".

These are the RDS features. They're almost totally useless in Australia because very few stations implement them.
TA is traffic announcement. A station is meant to set this flag when it puts out traffic info and irrespective of which station you are tuned to, your radio is meant to retune for the duration of that announcement.
TP is traffic programme and if set your radio will prefer to tune to specific stations which give out traffic info.

As I say, in Australia the only consistently working bit of RDS is text feedback for station name and one line of text of station info/advertising. The ANS grabs the station name and puts it on the preset button but not on main area of screen which is a pity.

Does the air con status display when you adjust the climatronics unit? I will ask about the seat warmer if the climatronics information shows up but seat warmer info is missing, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Yes I have checked the cables twice. As I mentioned the CAN works. ie All the steering wheel controls work. the Door indication works, the optical parking system works as well as the climate control etc.
The connector as shown on you picture has two parts. The A part which is the speaker connection (to the amplifier) and the CAN bus connection which is part D.

As for updating the them I go to system - change vehicle and select the Skoda. Then switch it off and on.

As for keeping up to date. Woudl love to but first want to get the thing working.
