Does a Y-adapter RCA (2-->1) make this signal full again? Does anyone use the SUBWOOFER OUT on the headunit with success?
Yeah use a Y splitter mate, obviously if you connect only the left sub then your right sub wouldn't get anything through the amp and vice versa.

just one subwoofer, but it has left and right RCA inputs. Either way I get it, bridge them with a splitter and hopefully all will be well. Will try this!

I have read through the thread and just have a few questions:

    • Does the unit support Internet Radio? This would be a huge plus in my book because 80% of the music I listen to is streamed live from the internet. I understand you would need a 3G modem installed for this to work, so does the USB connection support a modem? If not then can you stream the internet radio from your phone using BT or via the USB?
    • Will this unit work with a Dension Gateway 100? I have a 100 plugged in to my RCD500 at the moment, which gives me full ipod control from the ipod itself (i.e i dont have to browse through the ipod using the controls on the head unit). Any other unit I have tried which has a direct ipod plug has never given me the ability to fully control the ipod from the jog wheel on the ipod. Also the Dension unit at the moment allows me to stream internet radio from my iPhone (another advantage of not having the ipod/ iphone locked down when plugged in to the unit).
    • Do we have any one in the Newcastle area who has one of these installed? I would love to see it in action.

    Cheers,

I'm not sure about USB 3G capabilities but I don't think the unit currently supports it - however it does stream music via BT fine so you can listen to internet radio that way, a customer of mine does this and says it works well.

I am doubtful Dension Gateway can work with this unit - from what I can tell the Dension Gateway is designed to fit specific units, and obviously it has not catered for the ANS. It's possible to get it working if you use the aux-in port but I don't think the info will display on the ANS because the instructions on your Dension is designed for the RCD500 - but you may be able to retain controls through the iPod. Having said that, the current iPod menu in the ANS is being revised and there is a new interface being experimented with, which will list songs by artist and song name etc and I think retain playlists as well. Coupled with ability to use steering wheel controls I don't see the benefit in using your iPod.

The closest customer I've had to you is in Tascott, but maybe there's someone in the group buy I'm running that's closer to you.

I'd be real interested to know if a 3G USB stick could be used for internet access... DkN is it possible just to ask if this unit would recognise a 3G USB stick ?? it would need a lot of new software but knowing whether or not the version of WinCE onboard supports this would be good to know....

Also I always stream radio from my mobile phone using BT... its awesome !!!

Ok so I can confirm the ANS series does not have 3G at the moment, though they have other types of units with 3G function so it's probably planned. For me though I find browsing the net on my phone enough of a chore already especially with the lame signal around Brisbane, and I have a Galaxy S3.

The GPS software on the ANS is Primo 2.0, which is the latest successor to the iGo 8.

Primo 2 is (as the name suggests) 2 versions above the previous generation which was known as iGo (version 8 being the last one).
Primo can use map data from either Navteq or Tomtom (that I am aware of) and can be configured to have both installed, and switch between them if required.

Lame name but awesome GPS software.

Yup, IMO they should have stuck with the iGo name. Oh well, as far as I'm concerned, it's the best GPS software out there although TomTom has some loyal fans. Regardless, it's years ahead of VW's OEM GPS software.

You'll be hard pressed to find any arguments there...I use both regularly.
