The second point has been reported, but it's up to the manufacturer to update it - as I said, because of the new units, while the current generation ANS will be maintained, I'm not sure how many more new features / improvements will be implemented. That said, Audiosources has decided to continue selling the ANS in their domestic Chinese market so maybe this could be good news.
I've never seen the BT issue you described, though I have a feeling it's because you have some non-English characters or unorthodox symbols in your contact list that may be messing with the system.
I am expecting the price to be around $750 at this stage. In light of Audiosources not discontinuing the current ANS series, I'm considering keeping them as part of my stock as a budget option for those not looking for anything more. I won't be able to keep these at runout prices but I think I can offer them at $550 shipped, if there is enough interest for these after the new unit comes out.
Hi Sandy,
I received a Firmware update via email tonight, just confirming that this is a newer update to the one you released at Christmas? If so what are some of the fixes/ new features that we can expect from this update.
Cheers
Yes it is a newer update. I'm not clear on the exact updates but for M version it fixes the RVC black screen issue, and I believe the Random button for SD / USB playback now remembers itself on boot. There are likely to be other small fixes and updates to the iPod interface, but I don't have an iPod / iPhone to test with.
DkN - any updates on the new hardware? (money ready to go...)
Well it is approaching Chinese New year and the factory is going on holidays for almost the whole month of February. They have some hand made test units right now that they are finalising testing on, but full production won't happen until they get back to work so it looks to be early March at this stage. How's your patience? I can promise you it will be worth the wait though
As the new unit is still a while off yet, and while it sounds good, I am not sure I am willing to drop ~$750 on a RCD510 replacement. I have read and seen many of the reviews and vids on the ANS810 and it does pretty much all of what I am looking for. But I would really like to get current owners opinions on if the latest firmware update has fixed most of the bugs reported throughout this thread. Mainly interested in overall system integration (white MFD and steering wheel controls) and IPOD functionality, especially shuffle function and search options. (I listen to lots of PODCASTS so would like to be able to search these)
What do people think? Any major issues that are still outstanding with this unit?
If these are sorted, then DkN you can add me to the list for an ANS810 if you are going to continue to stock and support these units at the lower price.
The ANS series is an RNS-510 replacement, not RCD-510 replacement.
MFD shows current radio frequency, elapsed time for music / dvd, current phone number of call dialled / received depending on context. All steering controls function as OEM, including phone button (works to pick up / hang up calls or switch to BT menu)
Unfortunately no search or shuffle function yet in ipod mode, I can't say for sure if these will be implemented in future updates. Although, recent updates have enabled browsing by artist, albums etc in ipod mode, so shuffle should at least be possible.
If you are after the full set of media functionality I would suggest waiting for the new unit.
Hmm you will probably be disappointed, the search function on long tracks (i.e podcasts, dj sets etc) is terrible and hasn't improved much after the updates. The in track search function is so slow that is not really usable and despite having the available hardware for it (i.e a spare jog wheel and touch screen) you cannot jump to certain parts of the track, this has been a frustration for me as I often listen to 2hr+ dj sets. Also when switching over to bluetooth mode to answer a call and then back to the track it starts back from the start.
Apart from that I am fairly happy with the unit, the last update improved lots of little annoying bugs.
I received a new firmware, but I do not know which version is for me.
In the menu of my unit is:
BSP ANS510AS.609
APP ANS510AS.M69
BT: 20111115
Should I use M version? BT has a meaning?
