I'd imagine that more information from stations such as messages and song info would be something that will be implemented in the DAB solution, so they probably won't bother with the other RDS fields right now.
You're right that the RNS is a more refined product, but there are aspects of the ANS that are in fact superior to the RNS unit, most notably the map software and media capabilities (by that I mean compatibility with media formats, media browsing at the moment is still rather basic). In about a month's time (if development goes according to plan) you can also expect some groundbreaking OBDII capabilities of which I have seen previews but am not yet allowed to make public
The goal of the ANS has always been to be a full replacement for the RNS. As of now, RNS software is more refined and has deeper integration with MFD, but you can definitely expect things to change in the future. For those that do not mind the drawbacks that ANS has right now (I for one for example, always have MFD on fuel consumption, and barely make calls in the car, just receive them which ANS handles fine), this unit can indeed be more attractive than the RNS. I have a happy customer who replaced his RNS-510 with the ANS and he's not looking back
