I will post an update when I have the information and am able to release it, though at this stage the expected date is towards the end of January.

Well the audiosource sales rep, Jason has offerred to sell me the boot handle reverse camera for $40 (down from the original reference of $48 USD) with another $20 for shipping. All my cost due to him sending me the wrong reverse camera!?!?!
I have found them for $31 including shipping from china via Aliexpress.com - Online Shopping for Electronics, Fashion, Home & Garden, Toys & Sports, Automobiles from China. so I think I will simply order from aliexpress. I am trying to return the universal camera to get my $25 back. It may seem like a small amount but I might as well return it since I will never use it.
We'll see what he has to say.
Paul.
Just updated to the new firmware. I must say I am really disappointed with it. It seems like this update focus more on ipod fixes.
BT still wont work with steering wheel phone button to answer call.
Song names and files still limited to I think 15-20 characters. Most of the song names got chopped off.
I dont find any differences in RVC. I still need to wait till the radio fully boot up before I could use the RVC. If I tried to engage reverse gear when the radio is still booting, it will show the rvc for 2-3 seconds then the screen turn black.
Really disappointed that they will drop the support for this unit.
Thanks.
The steering wheel phone button works fine for me, it answers incoming calls and also ends calls when in a call. What car do you drive again?
I will confirm again with the fast RVC boot, although I've not heard others with your black screen issue.
There should still be some improvements to come but I'm working on something with them for the ongoing improvements, can't say for sure if I have something yet but stay tuned.
I ran the update yesterday and so far I am quite happy with the results, the UI no longer seems clunky, I dont really use the iPod function but noticed a few small improvements in SD/ USB play mode. Thanks DKN, I hope that Audiosource continues to commit to updates for existing customers.
Hi mates, have been a silent follower of this thread. So far, I'm impressed with the community and support from DkN.
DkN, can i please ask though, will the new unit be Android base? Please keep us posted on the news.
I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on the ANS610 now, but I've a strong feeling I'll regret it if I don't wait for the release of the new unit.
I will try steering wheel function again.
But the RVC issue when booting definitely happens to me again. I cant help it, it happens all the time when I engage reverse before the ANS finishing booting. Could it because by default it boots and loads into my USB function?
Still a minor bug each time a song ends there is a weird sound when going to the next song.
Thanks.
It really depends on what you want, the ANS series is a good unit as it is, it lacks a little in media playback but has lots of good points and many are very happy with it. For now you can also get the units at a very good price - dollar for dollar I don't think you will get anything better. I am about to put my remaining stock on sale at a discount too.
If you are a tech enthusiast / perfectionist and want advanced features though, the new unit will deliver, but expect the price to be a bit higher too. It still runs WinCE, as I explained a few pages back currently Android is not quite cut out for the car media market, so you'd expect another few years before you see a proper car unit running Android (by that I am of course excluding the current array of second class units sticking in generic Android systems that probably took less than a month to put together). I can delve into the technical reasons why Android is not a good idea right now but I'll spare that for the public.
There will however be an exciting way to connect to Android phones on the new unit - you'll have to wait till I can release more details though
In the end it's about features vs price. The discounted price (which for me I will announce soon when my remaining stock goes on sale, but if you're buying from Audiosources you can get it from them now) vs the expected market price of the new unit will probably be at least $200 difference, so that's something to consider.
What car do you drive? I don't think it has to do with the USB but you can disconnect it and see if it makes a difference. Does it stay black forever, or does it load eventually?
The sound glitch at the end of the song has been reported before, it's most likely something technical to do with the WinCE system in the way it handles the song files as it closes one file and moves on to the next. I'm not entirely sure where they are at with this issue, but it happens only to some songs - still no clear pattern, but the glitch is only for a fraction of a second.
