Yes, it will be plug and play with full IPAC display on the reverse camera.

Apologies if these questions seem a bit basic.
The screen is HD 800x480. songs do indeed play in SD card, as do video files. I'm not sure what you mean by loading the GPS data each time - the GPS SD card has a separate slot to the media SD, but the GPS does have to start every time the unit starts. You can choose for GPS to load automatically on boot if you wish. GPS positioning will load regardless of the GPS software being on, so if you drove the car around for 5 mins then manually start the GPS, it already knows your position. You can see the GPS and SD card working in any of the two videos I posted. My own video (the top one) is more detailed but lower quality, with button confirmation beep turned on, so you may want to turn the volume down.

I think GTD Dubber was asking if it had an internal Hard Drive for storing GPS maps music, video etc.

Looks like a good alternative to RNS. What are the access times for the SD card? Especially when using a big card, say 32Gb with plenty of folders full of songs?

    Definitely interested.
I have MY12 Tig with RCD310, BT and MDI, no sat-nav, rear cam or OPS.

The unit will be a direct swap?

I lose AM radio. Anything else?

Can you confirm I gain sat nav or do I need to add other bits?

Do I gain line level outs for future upgrade?

It looks like it has sub out; line level, amp or both?

Some one asked about a hard drive (HD); any answer?
If SD card only, what's max size ?

Will my MFD still function as before?

I have standard air con, not dual zone climate. Does this show up on screen?

In iPod mode does iPod screen go 'dead'? Like with 310.
do I get cover art from iPhone?

Where are you based in Brisbane?

    Looks very interesting

Thanks. I was referring to the prices of map updates. Is it available online for downloads or do we have to trouble you each time there's one?

Yes, the GTI has a red theme to match the red stitching, etc, whereas mine is more grey (I have beige trim). I tried red once via VCDS and it didn't look good.

I'll try to answer the questions as best I can.

The unit is a direct swap, plug & play no brainer.

You lose a bit of radio reception, other than not having AM signal, FM is shaky in remote rural areas / areas of high interference (like when you drive under some high voltage power lines, just for a split second).

There is no built in HDD, but at the front there is a separate SD slot for GPS and Media. There is also an external USB from the rear, which can be wired from the side of the glovebox quite easily, maybe I will post up a quick DIY later. memory expansion supports up to 64gb, but for SD card I believe the unit supports only up to FAT32 which effectively means 32gb.

I have not tested a 32gb card but I have a 4gb SD filled with mp3s of about 400 songs, there is no effect on load time (which is to say, <10 seconds on first boot, ~1 second to change songs).

The unit has satnav, with the latest iGo Primo 2.0 loaded with 2012 Aus+NZ map. I will send future updates to all customers, and this also goes for firmware updates for those who want them. These will be available online. I will be happy to step the less tech-inclined through the process, and help out physically with local customers. Naturally you will need an SD card reader, you can ebay one for about $2 shipped, otherwise most laptops these days come with them built-in.

In terms of output / input signals, the unit has, from the rear:
    front L+R, rear L+R Out
    subwoofer out
    aux video in
    aux L+R in
video 1+2 out (if you're really adventurous, hook up some rear seat LCD screens )
    reverse cam in

I am not sure what type of subwoofer out it is, I will double check tomorrow and report back.

All MFD functions will be as per normal - MFD displays from the unit affect only the infotainment screen. If you like to keep your MFD on the fuel / km etc display, that's up to you.

I am fairly certain single zone AC also shows up on the unit's display, as long as your MFD is white. I will double check this.

I am also not sure whether iPod screen will freeze under iPod interface, but I do not believe it will. I don't think cover art will be displayed, but again, definite answers will be provided tomorrow (I don't know any of this since personally I hate iPod/iPhone ).

I am based southside of Brisbane, in Sunnybank Hills.

Microphone is internal and does not yet have an external mic option, Audiosources is considering adding this option in the future but not sure at what time.

Having said that, the internal mic has been much improved over older units. Still not great, as some background noise can be heard during a call, but I have yet to have someone who cannot hear / understand me, it just sounds like I'm outdoors.

Thanks for all your answers so far.

    Still 2 more clarifications:

The unit is a direct swap, plug & play no brainer.
The videos show 5 or 6 car choices from setup menu (Golf etc) but not Tiguan.
    What does that signify?

Your description of audio outs doesn't say if it has speaker outs and line level outs.
Is there an image of back and/or manual we can download?

How do we place orders and payment methods?
Tiguan MY12 118TSI, white, no frills..... Had ANS810 ... Note the HAD ..... Now got RCD510 supplemented by 7" Android TomTom mounted on a HoldMyPhone .... Upgraded speakers Vibe BlackAir front splits and MBQuartz 12" ported sub driven from Infinity Reference 5350a amp .... oh and added fun

Okay, hopefully I now have answers for everyone.

Single zone AC controls will not display on the ANS-810. So to clarify, AC controls on-screen will display if you have dual zone AC, and a white MFD.

iPod screen will not freeze when connected via iPod cable. Cover art is not displayed on the unit at the moment - it's a possible future software upgrade but I wouldn't hold your breath, the utility/effort scale is pretty low.

The car selection option has absolutely no effect on compatibility. I believe the option simply lets you choose one of the five available images for the door open display. Compatibility is only affected by physical shape and the CANBUS. In other words, the Tiguan, along with any other red / white MFD vehicles with the RNS/RCD 510 shape, are supported. This does mean cars like the older T5 and new Touareg are not supported due to difference in shape. Compatible vehicles include:
    New Polo
    Golf Mk 5 & 6
    Scirocco
    Touran
    EOS
    Tiguan
    Passat & CC
    Caddy
    Transporter T6
    Touareg <2011

Also for clarification, the unit has 600Mhz ARM11 CPU, with 128mb RAM. As I understand it, GPS is now also handled by the ARM11 CPU.

Lastly, the audio. I have been informed all audio outputs are pre-amp. I am not very familiar with sound systems as I have not tinkered with them much myself, but I believe this should mean the outputs are line-level. They are definitely not speaker-level. A picture of the cables are as below, minus the CANBUS connection, GPS antenna and radio antenna (these are included but I left them out in this photo and the unit is now in my car...):

There is no manual, but diagrams on the unit explain what each pin / connection is. From left to right, the connectors above are:
    USB cable
    iPod cable
audio / video input & output as I explained in previous post
input connector for the USB and iPod cable

Payments are either by bank transfer or PayPal.
