Alpine IXA-W404 in MKV-GTi with Connects 2 - install with pics

(Semi repost since forum crash - there was a thread up about a similar problem but was light on details. I've done my reading on this before I attempted the install, but have encountered the same problem)
OK, so I have just connected up my Alpine IXA-W404 to the Golf GTi MkV (01/07 build) using Connects2 gear - the harness adapter is the CTSVW002, but this doesn't seem to be providing the correct power signals to the stereo. Note - I don't have an additioanl CANBUS adapter such as the CAN-VW01 - I didn't think I needed this with the CTSVW002 as it was CANBUS to HU). The IXA-W404 is to replace an RCD500.
When I start the car, the unit will not switch on, and when I turn the car off the unit will stay on till I turn it off.
Will be running an interim lead to the ciggy lighter to switch it, but would like to know where I've gone wrong, do I need additional parts or do I need to recode something...

OK, done a bit more digging and fault finding - have isolated the problem, but no idea of the solution.

Seems that Connects2 have picked pin 15 as the volt+, and pin 16 (SAFE) as acc, however with everything I tried (locking car, sitting still for 10 min etc) pin 16 stayed at 12V, and I was not able to locate an actual switched acc port.
With the ciggy lighter plug wire supplying it is switching correctly, however it is fed through the front of the HU (it was past beer o'clock) and is kind of obvious.
Oh, and when I went out before the steering wheel controls did nothing, haven't tested them again yet.

So - my question - how do I get a switched acc port off the quadlock connector?

Al's IXA-W404e into MKv GTi - the saga continues

OK, it has been in for a week. Tomorrow's job - after failing to get a response from Connects2 about the fact that nothing works - is to hide the aux switching wire down the back of the dash - 5 minute job.
What I started with (RCD 500, and that is a Brodit HTC active (power only) cradle on the left):

Bit of info about the install:
I used a Connects 2 Dash Facia (CT23VW01A), Connects2 single Fakra (powered) antenna adapter (CT27AA14), Connects2 Steering Wheel interface (CTSVW002) and the Alpine Stereo adapter.
You can not (well, you can, but I didn't) use the Alpine 2-Din cage that came with the unit as the facia kit includes a cage that fits flush with the facia panel - also has a neat feature where you can adjust the depth of the HU back and forward in 2mm increments. Nice feature for a flush fit.
    Starting with the lead(s):

The connects 2 has ISO plugs on the back, but I cut and shut these - together with the park brake wire and the antenna power wire - to the Alpine harness.
I ended up removing the pin that Connects2 had labelled accessory, and this is currently connected to the auxiliary switched wire (don't cut the red wire...)
15 min later it looked more like this:

(almost) Finished off - installed - it looks like this. There isn't much to tell once you've got the harness made up - it connects to the stock quadlock connector, and then to the back of the HU - there are a few additional leads for iPod, Video and USB as well as the standard antenna (and I don't even have a reverse camera on there, or the sub interface. These are shoved - very neatly - in under the HU mounting cage so the HU can slide right in. As I said above, being able to adjust it back and forward in ~2mm increments is very nice. It might even be possible to go with ~0.5mm increments as there are 4 seperate marginally offset mount holes on the Connects2 cage.
The dash trim ring (inside the RCD500 shaped facia plate) was also provided by Connects2 - looks pretty damn good to me - have to wipe a few fingerprints off it though, and it is sitting a little crooked because of the wire.

I still have no working steering wheel controls - if anyone in Brissie has the CTSVW002 I would love to see if it is my box or something in my car that is wrong - will pay beer to "borrow" for 10 min at yours). I really miss them - come back steering wheel controls
And I will be getting a proper switching interface - probably should have gone with InCarTec in the first place...
The Ipod is in the glove box - not as fast as the CDe-104BTi I had before, but has some nice features like full scrolling album names - 10 characters is not that great when 50% of the albums on your ipod starts with "Triple J ", then it is a matter of counting the H's and the L's to find the one you want.
Also surprised it uses the USB interface for the ipod, interested to find out if the KCE-422i ipod interface will work throught he AI-NET rather than the USB so I can have both (greedy SoB, aren't I)
    that'll be all for now

And now I've gone wireless with the installl:

Bit more info - I've been talking to a few more people, and doing a bit more research on this, and haven't got very far.
I suspect that the steering wheel control unit is faulty. No response from the shop I bought it from.
As for the power issue, there seems to be a common thread with the RCD510 power drain issue in the earlier MkV's (half height MFD) - same issue in that the unit doesn't switch off with the ignition (although is able to sense enough to switch off the display and audio side). This would mean that the gateway upgrade ($120 off ebay + coding) will fix the problem, but I gave up on an RCD510 install for that very reason.
Am trying another canbus adapter from the same manufacturer (Connects2 UNI-CANBUS) (and, unfortunately, the same retailer with non existent aftermarket service).

Well, a month later and I was right - the SWI was the problem, but wasn't faulty.
Bit of Dr Google diagnosis showed me that my CTSVW002 looked nothing like the others, was lacking the twisted pair component. The shop have agreed to a refund, and my new one arrived yesterday, installed this arvo.
Haven't played with the park brake for video yet (and setup apparently), but all the connections and steering wheel buttons work, and it switches on with the ignition, and stays on till the keys are removed from the iginition. Just like a bought one!
