What Alpine? (If I might ask).

I have been a Pioneer fan forever but ended up with a JVC in the Golf. Now it's not up to the quality of some of my old head units, but I picked it up for ~$250 on special it was too good to go past.

    JVC Products Australia : Welcome

Dual RCA out puts, front and rear USB (although you loose one for bluetooth since they use a USB dongle) and it's a hands free bluetooth phone too It is a little slow to read a USB stick or CD full of MP3's when you switch to that input, but once it's going it works perfectly, including switch tracks, without any pauses. (When I say slow I mean 5 seconds or so when you switch to that input or start the car).

It works with my iPod Classic flawlessly as well as the iPod Nano (gen 2 I think). It works fine with the iPhone over bluetooth for audio + phone.... but the one issue I have is that the iPhone will constantly switch to bluetooth instead of using the USB connection (if you have bluetooth turned on). So long as your happy with audio over bluetooth it's not an issue.

To get the same dual RCA connector as well as bluetooth phone support and iPod/iPhone support in a Pioneer was ~$900 at the time and I simply couldn't justify three times the price for a head unit in a car I only use to drive to and from the station. That said, now that both our cars have full bluetooth hookups I don't know that I could ever go back to not having one

If you're looking for Apline units, I had mine installed in a 03 Bora 4-motion.

    Alpine Electronics of Australia

That is the unit I had fitted. It is compatible with all iPods and Iphones. The Guys down as SSV took about an hour to fit it, including making a custom cradle for it. It was about $110 for the install and from memory the guy was running out that model of unit for about $500 - $600 from memory. (I got my unit elsewhere)

They did a really good job, the unit sits perfect

    Cheers!

    EDIT:
Picture of the Unit installed. (I leave the cable in the glove box, just had it out for some reason.)
