    Aftermarket issues.

    Car: 2001 Bora 2.0
    So after spending 3 hours poking at trim, soldering, cutting my fingers ect. ect., and with my head unit finally installed I've run into an issue.
    Whenever I remove my key from the barrel the headunit loses power and resets to factory (no presets, demo mode)
    Anyone know how to fix this/point me in the right direction?

    What unit do you have? Sounds like a fault with the unit because settings should not be dependent on external power. Doubt it's a wiring issue because if it is dependent on constant external power in order to remember settings then it will likely have battery drain...

    Don't all headunits have constant power?
    I know on old school cars its just 12v, acc, and ground.
    12v being used just to keep clock and settings and therefore draining very little power.
    I'm going to check wires/swap acc and 12v tomorrow to see how it works out.

    Never mind, I was thinking of a different issue regarding CAN-Bus which you wouldn't even have. You're probably right it's just the 12v and ACC being the wrong way around.

    From what you've described it sounds like the radio is losing +12v battery voltage.

    When you wired it up you need to give it constant +12v from the wiring loom and ACC signal for the ignition switch which triggers the head unit to resume previous state or wake-up. From experience I'd say this could very well be your issue.

    Normally the red and yellow wires on a standard unit Swap them over and I bet it will work

    As has been said it does sound like your head unit isn't getting a constant 12V. Did you check the lines with a multimeter before install to be sure?

    Just for anyone that reads this post, it was the old red wire yellow wire mix up.
