    9W7 on a non-BT car

    Hi all,

Tried searching all over the internet about DIY fitting a 9W7 system onto a non-BT RCD-510 2009 CC but all the tutorials are swapping from 9W2 to 9W7 which seems pretty easy as the wiring is pre existed.

Just wonder is it difficult to DIY and is there any tutorial?

    Any input appreciated.

Just make sure the kit you buy comes with all the required cables/connectors.

Suggest carsystems.pl or jku.com.au but you'll want a unit that is compatible with red MFD if you want phone data on your MFD and/or steering wheel buttons to work.

Thanks for the suggestions I bought my MFSW from carsystems they are pretty good. I had a look at their website before and they are plug and play but not sure if it requires a lot of removing panels to run through the cables and stuff?

    Have you done this yourself?

Yes I've done the install but from an existing BT unit. I did however have to rerun the microphone cable into the overhead console as the connectors for the mic were different.

Check out YouTube as there's install videos there which will give you a good idea. So yes a bit of mucking around pulling trims and running cables but all doable as a DIY.

    Hi enixsr,

I also have a 09 CC, it came with pretty much everything except BT (go figure) and I installed it in my mine. Only difference I can tell is that I have an RNS 510 as oppposed to an RCD 510.

It is able to be done by yourself but if you have no idea what your doing I would recommend getting help. Mine also required coding after the install, which I didn't have the equipment for so you might need a VW mechanic buddy.

I will buy a kit and do it myself. Did some more research and managed to find a tutorial. Doesnt look too hard. I managed to swapped the MFSW and installed the footwell lights myself so hopefully this BT is not much harder than those. I will need to find a cool kid with a VCDS then.

I will update my process once done. Thanks guys for the reply.

If you have any dramas, there are plenty of guys on here who will be happy to give you advice and a hand if necessary. And the cable? Plenty of those around too. If you're close enough to the western suburbs, I could probably give you a hand with the coding.

You may find more results searching for guides where people have installed 9W2 or 9W3 bluetooth into a VW with no bluetooth. That should give you all the DIY info you need as far as how to remove panels, where to run cables, VCDS settings, etc. You can then supplement that with your knowledge of the 9W7 upgrade.

    Hi mate,

Not sure if you have seen the PM but will you have time this week to help me with some coding? I will go to you of course and enjoy some beer

    Thanks.
