No GPS, would give you the RCD510.
Hey Guys,
I have been talking with Sound In Motion here on the Sunny Coast RE getting some more punch from the standard stereo.
Looks like I will be having a single 12" x type alpine sub being installed in the spare tyre well.
I am just wondering - how do I tell which headunit I have in the car? i didnt get the GPS option even though I wish i did
are there any complications buying the GPS version of the head unit and installing? eg any buttons different on the steering wheel etc.
Cheers guys

Installing the RNS510 (sat nav version) is as easy as pie, just need to borrow a VCDS cable to tell the car you've added that feature.
blink.... loljust need to borrow a VCDS cable to tell the car you've added that feature
I am presuming this is something that VW has to do for me?
Have found a brand new RNS 510 for $1000 plus freight.
not sure if this is a decent price?
That sounds like a reasonable price for a brand new unit.
This is a general question and not directed at BOV17 in particular, does the RNS have lane guidance and speed camera alert?

Visit the VCDS subforum here and you'll find people who own the cable who can help you out for a small fee. VW dealers can also do it but are not always extremely willing to help with such things.
Someone here will probably help, it'll be much cheaper than the dealer:

That thread really needs to be stickied, I'm sure there are a lot more people out there.

I was gonna ask why Melbourne didn't get the caps lock treatment in that thread, and then I realised I hadn't even noticed the Brisbane heading
