2010 Golf GTI Bluetooth Cradle Question

I just had a look at a 2010 Golf GTI and it had a little Bluetooth cradle (apparently genuine VW fitted) stuck (double sided tape) to the dash near the drivers A-pillar and the mic is on the upper A-pillar. When connected via Bluetooth it appears the only way to answer a call is via the cradle (steering wheel buttons dont work). Which model of Bluetooth is this? Is there anyway to get integration with the headunit and steering wheel switches? Or is my only option to get another unit?

The OEM Golf BT modules are under the seat and don't have a cradle. Mic is in the headliner near the map reading lights.
Polos used a Bury dock which is unsightly and has some unusual behavior in its default configuration.
It sounds likely that you have an aftermarket unit. Can you post a picture of it? Is there any sort of number/name on it anywhere?

Best integration is from either the factory units (9w7) available from JKU or carsystems.pl or from aftermarket units with MFD integration like Fibredyne or Dension.

It is very similar to the Polo dock, but i would guess a little smaller. I was told it was dealer fitted, and it has a VW logo appear on the screen at start up.

Why does this appear to be in a LHD car?

Yeah that looks like a Bury unit, possibly a 9068.
May well have been fitted by the dealer.
But it doesn't integrate like the VW factory unit (9w7) with the MFD or MFSW, hence the screen.

The reason they use the Bury in the Polo is they dont have a MFSW or full height MFD, so they need a screen.
Not the best choice of unit to install in a Golf with MFD and MFSW IMHO...

I just did a quick search of the Bury 9068, i think you could be right. It looks exactly the same. I also agree its not the best choice for a Golf GTI.

Easy enough to take it out and replace with a more suitable unit.
Obviously not a zero cost exercise but you can still sell the Bury on ebay...
