09 VW R36 Aux In plug?

hi there guys just recently purchased my r36 and was looking at getting some audio hooked up through my phone why is there an aux input in the centre console when it doesnt seem to respond, is that because it is not hooked up yet or is it for some other use? or maybe can only be used with the optional extra audio system.. should be able to plug into my phone through headphone jack i thought..

Yes you should be able to select media and then aux on the head unit to use a device via the six port

There is an option I'm setup somewhere to enable aux I think.
    Will check tomorrow.
I don't use mine as I just stream via Bluetooth these days.
But I'll look into it for you.

I wonder if it has an MDI/Media In in the glovebox?

    Hey Kamold,

I have an '08 R36 which came with the red MFD and RCD 500 (no aux in, no blue tooth, nothing! but does have the phone button on the steering wheel)

I ripped that out pretty quick and put an RSN 510 in from a 2014 jetta.

    after the straight swap:
the voice activation does not function (i thought the mic was internal but it's not, so i have to wire one in).
the phone button (on the unit and the wheel) does nothing when pressed.
the guy i bought he unit off wouldn't give me the GPS antenna cable (apparently it was too hard for him to get out), but he gave the dolphin fin - yeh thanks, that's pretty much useless if i cant connect it to the unit.

so this unit is not much better than the one i pulled out other than using the internal HD

is there one piece of equipment that will connect and make the: voice activation, bluetooth, and phone work? and give me an AUX in?

i currently just have the radio an internal hard drive funtion as im still waiting for a eBay GPS antenna to arrive.

ive seen the units going for 1200, i paid 350 did i get ripped off considering i didnt get the full functionality?

Bluetooth is seperate, but will give you a mic. Depending on which BT kit you get, will detirmine if you can have voice activation.

As for the AUX-In, an MDI is probably the easiest way to go. Can also buy USB, mini-USB and early iPod cables to suit.

However, none of these are plug-and-play, even though they're genuine VW kits. The connectors at the back of the radio need to be re-pinned, and some coding performed with VCDS.

Ah sorry didn't realise you had an RCD510.
Must admit I haven't used them much at all so don't know the menus.
It could be a coding issue, it could be a bad cable.
I'd get it looked at with VCDS and see if there is an open circuit on the aux port. If not check the coding.
